There is a world of difference between a programme upscaled in realtime, i.e. by a box or TV, and a dedicated upscaling platform that can take 10 hours to upscale 1 hour of footage.
Also an sd channel tends to have a much lower bitrate than a hd channel and bitrate can effect picture quality far more than resolution.

Good Food HD. Why?
Eden HD. Definite yes. Nature progs look great in HD. Some series(eg Yellowstone, Life) are being shown again on BBC HD.
As there is a limit on capacity, any HD channels must be justified by the added quality. Is there any real point in the Good Food channel being in HD?

Why not? Why sports but not food?Viewers come in all sorts of flavours with some very different interests.Food is colourful and very much something we view with all our senses so I cannot see the problem with the Good Food being in HD.

Re: Do Virgin customers want more HD channels
It depends what the channels are - Good Food, Eden and all that I couldn't care, but if it was free, then fine, good for those who like it, I wouldn't watch tho.
If we're talking about Sky Atlantic, I'd rip your arms off to get it.
