Ether way you must admit that SkyAnytime is a great addition to VM's offerings. Although it has taken its time to get over to VM.

Don't forget Sky have customers taking there services via the VM network EG Customers who take sky services like Skysports/Movies or Sky's entertainment channels.

Wether directly or indirectly these people are customers of Sky and quite often pay more for less than a Sky customer getting there services via satellite.

My wife and i are extremely disapointed in the lack of choice and content delivered by Sky Anytime and since Anytime+ is not a workable option in my area i think the whole thing is pants and does not compare to VM's on demand service in any way

Yeah thats a really good point Martyh, although Anytime is a push on demand service and can't really be compared to the far superior VOD offering from VIRGINMEDIA.

Again Sky's Anytime+ service is a full "pull" ondemand service comparable to VM ondemand service.

But again if you're too far from your ADSL exchange you won't get the speeds needed to stream HD content and in some case's even streaming SD content will struggle.

Where as VM has the cable network to stream its content almost ensuring a flawless hi quality service. Hopefully as openreach roll out fibre then this will improve users experience of Anytime+ and vm customers will find some great content for them on anytime as it rolls out fully.[COLOR="Silver"]

Re: Sky Anytime

Dont forget tho...

1. Anytime + uses sky broadband connection so if you dont pay for the premium broadband then you can only watch 3 x 30 min programmes and do nothing else on your pc all month....

2. depending on download speed it can still take a while to download the content..

VM neither of these apply. Also u can just have the TV product on its own and still get on demand...

Re: Sky Anytime

i don't mean to pee on anyone's parade but Sky Anytime will be a handful of programs.

its Sky Anytime+ that has the vast catalogue of stuff on demand but none of its HD.

And there you have a in a nutshell why OFCOM is a disaster

the HD content from Sky could be delivered by Virginmedia but Sky won't allow them to.

and its not technically possible to be delivered by Sky so there own customers don't get it either.

dreadful state of affairs.

I'm sorry but I disagree , Sky Anytime has plenty of HD content and Sky have also started to include HD on Anytime+ granted there is more SD but over time more and more HD will be added , I believe many HD movies are now added to Anytime+.

the Sky Anytime offering is pitiful.

and the anytime plus stuff would buffer and have you over your download threshold in next to no time.

dreadful all ways round.

Won't on VM as I doubt they'll throttle the connection to the STB nor does TV content effect your (non existant) download limit.

No idea about content, I only have your and muppetman's views to go on for that. The Sky site always seems to show quite a bit available on it though.

How would it have you over you download limit the 7.50 unlimited service allows you to watch Anytime+ content with no restrictions. Anytime+,is a pull service meaning the programme won't play until enough is downloaded , it then plays and continues downloading, I've used this at a family members house and it worked flawlessly on his 4-5mb connection. I respect your opinion we'll have to agree to disagree LOL :-)

Is this something new as my in laws are on the basic internet with Sky and were told they could only get Anytime+ with the unlimited broadband package. They have the full movies and sports package so if that's true they really are missing out.

that is exactly what i was talking about you have to take the top tier broadband to get it so it doesn't affect the download limit.

if you have the top tier broadband you'll have to wait on it queueing up the download before it plays - dreadful.

As for anytime the selection is so minimal it doesn't bear thinking about and that is with the top package on sky so....

Sky Anytime has launch on Virgin on Demand on TV Choice for XL Viewers but note Sky Living is only on it.

I have been given no info on when the rest will launch.
