I guess denphone that one all depends on the timescale VM have for switching everybody over to TiVo,by the time that happens hoepefully all the features i would like ie Red Button and reminders will be on the box, fair enough some members on here saying they never use them well when vm add them they will still have the option not to use them! Just as i would like the option TO use them

Maybe but 1 month ago a 1tb Tivo was £149+£49 activation, today its £99 all in.
But if there is a long wait maybe in that time the picture quality will sorted and all the features will work correctly.

I`ll wait it offers nothing I can easily live with out ( & in some cases would never use) & Its missing things I use all the time. All I see is extra costs for things I never use. Rather like my car !! - Sat nav, Air con, reverse parking sensors. Great for alot of users but I dont want them. With Tivo I have a choice -at the moment, Who knows when my V+ dies & cannot be replaced I will end up with it, but I do not see me getting one before then.

Of course it was but like any sophisticated high end set top box there will always be a bug or two when these boxes are released.

Because as much as people want to nothing is ever perfect in life and all products generally need updates as they go along.

"sophisticated high end !"
Of cause the Red button was invented last week & The Tivo is brand new to the market nothing has ever been seen like it before !!
Its a new piece of kit ( to Virgin) & the I want it brigade will defend it to the end.
It will date and be in a museum at some point ( think VHS, Betamax,
3.5" floppy - never mind 5" ,laser disks the list goes on).
Sorry guys its a PVR. Yes it has a lot of bells & whistles, & I am sure they are great fun.

But your point could be said about any piece of technology as a matter of fact. I remember deliberately holding my Nokia 3210 in away so that everyone could see it when walking around. I was so proud of my cutting edge latest phone, now I wouldn't own on unless you paid me.
The fact for Tivo of even a Sky+hd box, they aren't latest technology or advanced in anyway as the both use off the shelf parts. But in the field of set boxes available in the UK the Tivo is the newest. In some ways Tivo "latest tech" may hold it back as the type of duel core cpu it uses it not very powerful. Its uses to many shared resources.

Re: Getting rid?
I've only had a Tivo for a couple of weeks and am on my second one, the first one malfuctioned after 5 days. These things happen and so far the second Tivo has been very good indeed. I find it to be much more responsive than my V+ box which now lives upstairs and I find the standard def picture quality to be ok and no worse than the V+ (I am running it through a Pioneer Kuro and this soon shows any imperfections up) and the HD quality is great. I also find the menus ok to navigate and am pleased with the you tube app. I am also very impressed with the ablity to record from my android phone when I am away from home. Its a personal choice of course but I for one would not want to go back to the v+ box on my main set up.

Re: Getting rid?
Hi guys don`t get me wrong if have the "latest" is your bag great. No doubt at some point I will get one, but I dont use in any form a lot of the extras it offers but I like some that are not yet offered & I have no faith in "coming soon" when applied to Virgin ( their track record speaks for itself ) .
One day I will upgrade my car to the Hybrid model but not yet.(To high a cost)
I see the attraction of Tivo honest - but the extra charges no matter how small do not add up for me. As for faults in manufacture these happen its how the are responded to that matters. I have always from Virgin good on that point
