Re: Starview
you really think that the people that setup IKS are stupid there severs are rerouted via multiple proxys also if there using a cloned modem they will more than likly have it setup to change the Mac every few hours
most IKS are setup by the STB manufacturers so they can still sell thier inferior products
also no coders said that N3 would be cracked two weeks after ireland got hit (well no well know coders) a few coders have said it will be cracked after N3 is fully rolled out (but i cant see it myself) i work in a tech roll and have seen N3 in action and the control the provider (in this case VM) has over it is amazing
unfortunately there will always be freeloaders but one good thing does come from it all, they push the security industry forward
personally if i was VM i would of gone for IPTV but then they do have to deal with DOS attacks as i belive its still vulnerable to this type of attack
also with new IKS systems poping up all over it will give VM a chance to put its deep packet inspection system to the test unless the operators of the IKS systems work out how to add better encryption and extra info into the header of the keyfiles but it will be intresting from a security point of view to see how VM will tackle the out of control freeloader problem but it will always be a case of cat and mouse

IKS with N3 on cable is an unknown. Read some of the other forums and you will see as yet it has not been done in the uk. Personally because of what i learned it will be interesting to see if they can circumnavigate the system that has been put in place to deal with IKS and hacking of the N3 card.
IPTV for cable is on the horizon and being worked on as we post.
Lets see what has happened by summer shall we

It's not exactly unknown, the hardware will be exactly the same as N2 IKS it just needs the key/cardserver and emu relevant to N3 (either internal emu on the linux boxes or hardware cards connected to a PC based emu, this happened on the sats within a month of the major operators (D+, etc..) changing over to N3.
That's the thing with key/card sharing the encryption isn't broken.. The only good thing is that the sharing is small groups and no-where near the amount of users with broken encryption..

However there is a added problem for them with N3 which i am not going to post here but at the moment a key part of what they need to be able to do to allow IKS is not available to them which was when they broke N2 .
And here is a quote from a well known forum
Quote:
you need certain keys to do this and nagra 3 has been in down south of ireland for the last 8 months or more and they still haven,t been able to c/s with the nagra 3 so don,t hold your breath

Admin edit (Chris): Please don't quote the hax0r5, it just causes us work having to delete it twice.
So why then are they not able to do it in Ireland its almost the same system ?

Re: Starview
Everybody please listen up, this is your one and only warning:
Cable Forum takes a very dim view of attempts to steal cable TV. It is an offence under the Fraud Act 2006 so such discussion breaks our T&Cs.
There will be no more discussion of box-hacking methods, whether or not such methods are proven to work. The very next post that the team judges to break this rule will attract a great big infraction with lots of points and a probable suspension.

... and you're lucky I'm an even handed sort who waited to give you a chance to read the warning and think again about your post.
