Re: Slow connection

Hi all , 1st post here but a long time reader of the forum

Anyway, I live in Newtownabbey and im having the same problem with my speeds , just like Ciaran etc. Im on a 20mb package (£37 a month!)and i only switch the pc on after 7.30pm , so i dont download anything which would enable me to get throttled. I only play online games like COD4 and Battlefield 2. Over the last few weeks my ping has went up from 20-30 on servers to 90-140. Total lagsville.

Not sure what info you guys need but heres what it says in my modem config etc , any help would be great! Im on Vista 64 Ult and its spyware/virus free.

That looks quite normal for an NTL connection, all power levels within normal operational parameters.

Any issue must lie elsewhere.

You will probably be best to call Tech Support and ask if the are any issues on your uBR and is the a date for an upgrade listed.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tech Support is open 24/7 on the numbers below.

For help with your TV or Phone and for Broadband Technical Support:

Call Product Support/Faults on 151 option 3 from your Virgin Media Phone. It's absolutely free.

Or call 0845 454 1111 from any other phone line.

Just to update this quote, switched on my internet tonight and checked my broadband speed. At night time I usually only get 300kps but today (which was the date given to me by tech support on the uBR upgrade for L7) I have been getting 2mb download speed around 9pm, I still subscribe to the 10mb but it does look as if our uBR was upgraded.

I am now able to stream bbc and youtube woo hoo.

Sounds stupid guys but it has been a real pain in the backside ever since we installed Verginmedia.

Mine is running faster. I'm from the L7 area and have a 10mb connection. Looks like they've fixed the problem.

Re: Slow connection

Manchester fallowfield here and the speed is the worst it has been for a long time. Its well known that it is over subscribed here - but the last couple of nights I have been getting 200k off the newsgroups. Completely unacceptable. I stuck with them because they reduced my price and convinced me they were upgrading the UBR's. That was before the summer and since then it had gotten worse.

Re: Slow connection

All traceroutes I run to bbc.co.uk I get really bad pings at the manchester node. So its a problem there I believe.
