Re: Sub-titles for TV5 programmes

Update after talking to Sky Technical assistance. Follow following procedure:-
[*]Sky+ button, [*]services button, [*]Options menu, [*]Sky+ setup, [*]Right arrow to "subtitles", [*]Down arrow to "Highlighted programmes", [*]Arrow to "subtitles", [*]Green button to save this setting.

TV Guide button, all program mes with subtitles broadcast (ie BBC) will be highlighted with blue text & WHITE background, Scroll to 799 (TV5). This is not highlighted, it has white text on BLUE background. Therefore subtitles not broadcast

Sky will write to TV5. I've also done so but no reply as yet.
Thanks

Re: Sub-titles for TV5 programmes

I will be interested to see how you fare. It seems to me like you are now playing Pig in the Middle which I played in 2008 before I gave up the struggle to get a definitive answer from either TV5 or, in my case, Virgin.
Sky will know why subtitles are not broadcast without writing to Sky and TV5, if they reply this year will probably say it is some kind of issue with Sky

Re: Sub-titles for TV5 programmes

Good news Update.
The subtitles re-appeared at about 01.00 on thurs 15/12/20011 just as mysteriously as they disappeared about three weeks ago. Nothing to do with the various leads or settings I tried. Pity I'd already spent about 100 dollars subscribing to Yabla.com (Excellent short French videos with Fr/Eng Subtitles but their site is really ropey) ,Thanks for all your efforts to help.

Re: Sub-titles for TV5 programmes

Thanks for the update boxey. I can see what they have fixed, and subtitles and teletext are now working on VM too.

Can you try again, Marcel? You'll need to have your TV connected to the V+ using SCART, then select teletext page 891 using your TV remote.

Re: Sub-titles for TV5 programmes

TV5 have sent me the contact details for their representative in Britain. Anybody wanting them can PM me. I'll write to see if the mysterious disappearance of subtitles can be clarified. Also for fairness I must say that Yabla video retrieval speeds are now quite acceptable.
