Re: Why was this animal not put down.....

I have been following the development of this thread with interest.

The Death Penalty? I have a knee jerk reaction that says bring back hanging every time that a case such as this happens, the same reaction occurs whenever I hear of any cold blooded murder, or abuse of an innocent.

However what strengthens my feelings is invariably the reality of any sentence actually imposed. If a life sentence meant life then I could accept that a proper penalty had been imposed. By the time most sentences are adjusted for time spent on remand, good behaviour etc. and parole is considered the actual time served bares no resemblance to the one imposed by the court for the crime committed.

What I care about is getting these people separated from the society they threaten. In my opinion good behaviour in a confined, structured environment should not be taken as an indication that a person has been reformed and any one can manufacture a show of remorse if freedom is the end result.

Never mind 30 years, I don't think he will last 30 days inside.

I doubt I will shed any tears when I hear the "sad" news.
