Re: NTL HD Problems

No probs.

Just been doing some testing on Scart and HDMI. The PQ on BBC HD (channel 108) thru HDMI is obviously superior, however for SD broadcasts the quality is better thru Scart. Is this what to expect from upscaling? It's going to be a pain having to chop and change the TVDrive config depending on what you are watching.

Re: NTL HD Problems

Well I would say from what I have seen its much better being upscaled. Even channel 5 looked as if it was HD late Friday morning when the football was being shown. For a minute I actually thought it was being broadcast in HD it looked that good. But maybe the performance may vary depending on what tv or the strength of signal etc. I will prob use HDMI from now on.

Unhappy Re: NTL HD Problems

I have the same tv as lostbhouy24 and have just had an hd tvdrive box installed. I am having the same problems as him and have tried the same things to remedy them as him, hdmi to dvi plus the rgb leads, etc

When i go to the change display & audio setting and make the changes as per the tvdrive booklet and then do the confirm test my picture vanishes. I also do not get asked to confirm that the picture is ok as per the booklet.

When i go back to the display settings it defaults back to my original settings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please do not be too technical.

No, you cannot view HD over DVI unless your DVI display supports HDCP. If you see this message, it means that your display does not support HDCP. Most HDMI displays support HDCP, but DVI displays might or might not do so.

After you press ok -you need to change to your HDMI channel on your
television (using tv remote), you will then see a screen which will ask you
to press ok or text button to confirm the settings.

If you dont do this the box will revert to a scart output on your original
settings.

Hope this helps.

I had the same problem....before you comfirm the settings, you need to change the input on your TV. So:

1. change display settings on your V+ box to HDMI hidef or COMPONENT depending what you are using...but dont press ok just yet.

2.change the input on your TV to the specific HD source

3.at this stage the screen is blank...now press ok on the V+ remote twice-the picture will then appear and will ask you to confirm settings by pressing TEXT on your V+ remote.

worked for me fine

DVI doesn't carry sound, V+ has optical audio socket, so, you need to buy optical cable and set HDMI audio override: ON in Display & Audio Settings. That allow you get DD and 5.1 as well.

Good Luck

Thanks for that I got it to work straight the way but with no sound, which I knew would happen.

I did get the sound going through phono plugs on the tv drive and the back of the tv but it sounded "tinny" and only came out one speaker on the tv or hi-fi if I connected it to that.

How did you get sound from yours?

Thanks again!
