Re: [Merged] E-Mail dead again
I've set up a forward address to a non-ntl email account, so I pick up my ntlworld email from there instead.
Seems crazy that I have to do that, but at least it works and there's no delay on the fowarding of messages.

Interesting - how do you do that?

Re: [Merged] E-Mail dead again
You can set up various email options here:
http://www.ntlworld.com/help/custome...ilOptions.html
You can:
1) create extra email addresses (if you want even more spam )
2) set up a forwarding address
3) set up an automated reply (meant for when you're away but also useful for redirecting people when you change your email address)

Re: [Merged] E-Mail dead again
Thanks!!
P.S. 1) create extra email addresses - I've been trying to do this for several days now and it gives an error every time - "Your browser has issued a request that the registration server has denied"

You can use POP & SMTP as well if you sign up at the UK service.
Plus when (if!) you leave NTL, you don't have to change email address

I use Yahoo but there are many secure sites, i.e. banks, online shopping, etc. that won't accept web mail addresses. I use Yahoo to receive (or not receive!) copied e mails from ntl but you can't always use Yahoo to send e mail. Also there is the problem of adverts - most people receiving e mails don't want to see Yahoo adverts on their e mail. However, it is a very useful back up given ntl's e mail problems

If you use the SMTP & POP servers in your mail client (Outlook etc) then you won't see adverts and neither will the people you send mail to.
I've used their servers for months and haven't had any problems yet - I know that some places do restrict the use of free mail accounts though, for those you can use your NTL address and forward it I suppose, its a shame that NTL's email is so awful that we need to do all this, that and the measly 10mb they provide.

Re: [Merged] E-Mail dead again
Not for me, I still can't access webmail, it's been a week now.
Luckily the auto-forward thing is working fine so at least I'm receiving my mail, no thanks to NTL.

Toreador - Yeah, I think I spoke too soon, it's started to slow down here now. Takes about 30 seconds to log in. Glad you got the forwarding sorted!

Re: [Merged] E-Mail dead again
It's been exactly 1 week since my email service started erratically timing out or giving the "enter your username & password" screen while trying to access my mail. At the time I thought it had something to do with the planned maintenance displayed on the service status page, but that has long since been resolved.
My email problems are still just as bad as they were when the problems started last week, yet there is currently no issues concerning email on the service status page!
At least when this happened last time, ntl blamed virus attacks on their servers. This time they haven't even acknowledged that there is a problem.

This is going to sound strange but try deleting your account in Outlook Express and set it up again, for no reason I have ever been able to work out this does sometimes solve the problem

OK, worth a try...but I'll wait until I've had a few hours sleep.
I'm nodding off at the keyboard.
Nighty night...
