You WILL change your tone or action will be taken against you.
Irregardless of what your mother does or does not know, SHE is the account holder and unless she contacts ntl directly and gives you permission to act on her belhalf, you do not have any rights in this matter. You don't seem to want to accept it but it's the law.

Re: User name and password????
rreed87,
I suggest you go and calm down a little, before one of the administrators decides to ban you.
You have already been told your behaviour is out of order.

Re: User name and password????
Data protection act doesnt even allow husband and wife to be given each others information. Perhaps you should understand things before spouting off.

Re: User name and password????
NTL advise about computer problems, they advise you on the internet connection. This is registered on someone's account. If you are not that person then they could be prevented from assisting you due to the data protection act.
All it would take is for your mother to write a letter to ntl saying she gives consent for you to act on her behalf, could you not arrange that?

Re: User name and password????
rreed87,
No one is ganging up on you. You didn't help yourself by being abusive to people trying to help you.
I suggest you read the DPA (data protection act) as suggested and also re-familiarise yourself with the rules of this forum.

yes i understand that, but the advice given to you suggested that the problem was caused by the device that is connected to the service having been changed, as you dont have the username and password which you pointed out yourself you will not be able to reconfigure. Also pointed out to you this is information that is protected by the data protection act.
All people have done is advise you of the facts in an adult manner. However your reaction has been less than adult.
Im sure people are still happy to help you out, but i do thing the NTL employees (not me) that have tried to help you deserve some sort of appology and everyones opinion and input to your problem should be respected.
So why not calm down, and start again.

Re: User name and password????
rreed87 you will see if you read the thread over again that it started fine with TWO people offering their spare time whilst at work to help you out. NOONE ganging up on you then.
Then you returned to the thread posting a word that was not acceptable to the board. They removed it. NOTHING unfair there either, and they just gave you a warning that laguage cannot be used like that on this board as members of the board and youngsters here could be offended by it. PERSONALLY I couldnt care about the word, but there are rules.
Then everything got out of hand because of your immature and over the top responses to everyone elses advice on trying to calm you down.
Now this thread has just turned into one big argument and is getting nowhere.
Seriously m8, just let it drop and start a fresh.

Russ, the DPA does not require written authority for someone to act on their behalf. It is acceptable to have your identity validated by telephone and for you to give authorisation that way.
This would help sort the issue faster.

you see it as an argument, everyone else sees it as a discussion of the facts

br3ach i apologise for the word that people didnt like...
i just feel that when you have friends they back you up, and saying im new to the forum i dont know anyone, that when a mod or member dislikes something that is said they all join in going against the new person here, and everyone knows that is what happend. i didnt break the law no one did and i wasnt planning to! i just asked a simple question... FULL STOP nothing else, there is nothing to it now someone please close this thread
