Worst thing I remember was once going to bed on the mediterranean coast south of France and found a dead scorpion in the bed sheets.
Scared me tonnes at the time as I couldnt sleeep the rest of the night.
Apparently they're harmless...and not actually spiders, but related
I'd still brick myself if one started following my shadow, especially if it was nearly noon!
