At last I can set recordings without first having to find out when a programme is on and which channel it's on so that I can spend ages navigating to it on the EPG. I can even set series links for programmes that aren't on yet so that I don't miss them when they start. Suggestions will find lots of other great programmes for me that I would otherwise have missed.
There are also so many small features that make the whole viewing experience so much better. It's difficult to explain the benefits of TiVo to someone, you have to experience it for a while and then when you move away from it you really miss it.
TiVo is probably not for everyone but it's a different way of watching TV. Reminders don't exist because you record everything and watch everything when you are ready to watch it. I watch more TV in less time.
You can't judge TiVo fairly until you've used it for a short while so that it's got a full list of recorded programmes and suggestions. That's when many of the benefits of TiVo will be experienced. I've only had my TiVo for a few days, but with my Series 1 I hardly bothered with the EPG, I would always just go straight to my list of recorded programmes.
For me, Tivo, even in it's current state, has been worth every penny.

Re: TiVo
Couple of questions hopefully one of you tivo experts can answer.
1.i noticed my suggested programs had 7 items in it today but it seems to only record the sd versions not hd,is there a setting to change that.
2.will suggested programs cause my series link pre programmed programmes to fail

Not a TiVo expert but from what I've picked up:
1. No, at the moment it only records the SD version but Virgin are aware of this and look to change it in the future.
2. No, the preset programmes have a higher recording priority than the suggestions.
I think the above is correct!

It will record HD suggestions, but it's currently random in selecting them to record

Recording HD suggestions if available is a must in a future code drop.

Re: TiVo
An issue I've found is that it keeps recording the AD versions or versions with signing.
I think there needs to be an option to prefer/ignore these so that folk like me don't get these versions but people that need/want these services do get them.
I think that would be a great kudos move. If you need signing/AD then the TiVo will record these for you so you get the shows (where available) in the format you prefer.

Re: TiVo
Apologies if asked before but does it have the full Youtube experience or the restricted version found on most enabled TVs ?
Would be nice to have the films and TV shows available.

The AD versions are fine though, they have normal audio unless you change the audio track to the AD version.
Signed shows are broadcast on any channel and cant always be avoided. example the Hollyoaks omnibus on Sundays.

I would have thought that there would be a flag in the EPG data to indicate which programmes are signed though. I'm sure some would appreciate the option to skew suggestions towards signed programming as much as the rest of us would like to be able to avoid them.

Someone on the tivocommunity forum has stated that this is indeed the case. It would appear that YouTube videos can be tagged so that they can't be viewed on TVs. Plus, not all YouTube videos are in MPEG4 format.

You should get your email towards the end of the month.
