The diced rabbit we got half price from Sainsbury's after Christmas and thus we froze it until my partner made a lovely homemade pie yesterday.
l am amazed its not sold on a wider basis but alas that's due to the huge outbreak of myxomatosis in the 70's but most wild rabbits in this country now have developed a resistance to it and if its cooked properly its absolutely delicious in a pie or stew in my book.

My gran used to make rabbit stew when I was a kid and it was delicious though a bit bony if I recall.

Yes a bit stringy too IIRC but who knows where the rabbits we were eating came from. All I know is that we didn't ask any questions and it hardly touched the sides because we were always hungry.
@ Den - interesting that you got it from Sainsburys, will keep an eye open for it in future. I guess if you're not looking for something you're unlikely to notice it.

Re: What are you eating now thread?
At least it was healthy unlike the rubbish most younger people stuff their faces with today. It's appaling to see so much junk on the checkout conveyor and no fresh veg. No wonder there's an obesity chrisis.
I'll have to look for some rabbit in our local Sainsbury's. Be a nice change.

A lot of the supermarkets especially Sainsbury's tend to get quite a bit of game in from December to the end of February as that's when the game season tends to run for them although there are many online websites now which sell game and different meats nearly all year round now.

Re: What are you eating now thread?
Beef and mixed bean Chilli. Long grain rice and a sprinkle of parmesan reggiano
Had to add a contribution from the square bottle as leaving in the seeds in the green chillies was still far too mild.

Re: What are you eating now thread?
Pork Stir-Fry (meat left-overs from Sunday Roast), followed by Strawberries (first English ones of the season we've had) and Creme Fraiche.
