Re: Football Season 2011/12
I know that it is popular to say...well, we got another goal..so first one doesn't count
But how often has first goal made a difference..look at Wigan game...if Man Utd had scored first...would it have been a different game?..Yes

No it hasn't, no one knows what would've happened if he hadn't dived and what if the match finishes 2-1, still moot...

Are you watching the game?? With this sort of poor performance from Villa I'd have been extremely surprised if United didn't win this. The penalty did not change the dynamic of the match.

The penalty came too early for us to judge the dynamic of the match but when a team came to play defensively then going a goal down so early will change the dynamic of the match. The moment the penalty was scored it meant Villa had to come and try and score....
Of course it's likely United were going to win the game. Same with QPR, same with Fulham. However it's even more likely when they get decisions like this. Why bother playing the games otherwise.

Easy to say...after the decision.
How many times have I watched a game, when we knew the first goal would change the dynamics...where an inferior team defends what it has.
If you have never seen that type of game..the rose coloured glasses are working well..or at least the red ones

I know, but to suggest it's a case of "who knows what would have happened" is a stretch too far of the imagination.

I don't know.
I had Man Utd to win game 2-0 in my predictor.
But..i equally had Man Utd to beat Wigan. If you gave Man Utd a free goal against Wigan...would it have been 1-1 at end?..Don't know, but doubt it

And you can count a few Man City games the same way.

Some supporters should be ashamed of themselves as a minority booed during a minutes silence for the victims of the Hillsborough disaster and the italian footballer who sadly died yesterday.

I hadn't noticed that until you mentioned it. Yes Young did a Drogba but it certainly does look like legit contact.

I think they were booing those who wouldn't shut up.
