Feels like a limb's been removed. I was down in Cornwall the last two weeks and the lappy died on the Sunday. (POST fail, fan not working) Even though I had to use the local pub's WiFi as the mobile can only get a flakey 2G connection I still felt so isolated.

Awww...
It's terrible how dependent we're all becoming on the internet for everything. I'm trying my best not to go down that route with social media, banking etc. but we're gradually being pushed in the direction of virtually everything we do being online. All very well if it's total secure and reliable but of course it isn't.
Last week we were away and I only had access to the internet via my phone. I managed to post a couple of times here but can't say I missed being 'out of touch'...

I was trying to hand-hold a client and as a moderator on another site I have to touch base often. At least I don't do facebook or those other banal places.
I agree we're being pushed to do more and more on-line, can't see that changing.

Its not always terrible, many things I prefer to do online, like Banking & Shopping (and have done for almost 20 years now).
I cannot really be doing with "Social Media" (which is mostly anti social these days).
I probably spend about 5 minutes a day on Facebook, just to check on certain things, I would not miss it. I dont use Twatter, or any of the other things.
So many people seem permanantly glued to their phones these days, and cannot go five minutes without them.

Facebook has become an outrage conduit for halfwits; the intellectual baseline at which Corbyn and his militant cabal pitch their campaign.
A long time ago in a galaxy far away I remember when it was a convenient way of keeping in touch with friends, family abroad and interest groups related to hobbies and pastimes and not a platform upon which you're bombarded with vacuous, political soundbites.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8
Nearly got banned from my local hospital this evening. Went down to CT with my Nan and 4 porters from A&E were sat around in full earshot of the patients (and me) shouting and swearing, talking about oral sex. When my Nan told them they were rude, they were insulting to her. I was ready to go back round and punch them. Instead, I just said loud enough for them to hear that I would be making a formal complaint against them for their behaviour and then they can sit in the Jobcentre swearing and being rude to people.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8
Just watched a youtube tutorial on how to get down to the fan on the laptop (HP Probook 450 G3) I've virtually got to gut the thing. At least it gave the tip on how to get the keyboard out: lots of hidden clips. I can see the fan, it starts and stops randomly so maybe it's just a bad connection.
Thought I'd found all the T8 screws that secure the aluminium top and finger mouse, some were hidden by rubber bungs, but there's a couple more under the CD/DVD drive that also has to come out.. First thing is to get a suitable T8 driver.

They make it very difficult on purpose to get to certain bits on the laptop sadly heero.
