Re: Football Season 2012/2013
Darren Lewis @MirrorDarren
Harry Redknapp confirms he is set to sign Loic Remy from Marseille and Yann M'vila from Rennes. More soon on Mirrorfootball.co.uk

Real coup for QPR. Talk of Harry wanting a loan or two in too. I think they may just avoid relegation.

Darren @DarrenArsenal1
Understand that there's been some movement today on Walcotts new deal, and close to finalization now. Club gone as far as possible #arsenal
Matt Law @Matt_Law_SM
@DarrenArsenal1 100k a week, 3-and-a-half-year, big signing on fee. Down to bits and bobs now.
Darren @DarrenArsenal1
@Matt_Law_SM which actually means £120k+ with bonuses. That's one hell of a deal. Close to £25m package so I'm told.
Matt Law @Matt_Law_SM
@DarrenArsenal1 the 3-and-a-half-year part not great for arsenal - have to renegotiate in 18 months!
Darren @DarrenArsenal1
@Matt_Law_SM or sell !
Matt Law @Matt_Law_SM
@DarrenArsenal1 yeah, at least they could demand £30m - rather than nothing!
Thelonious Monk @dmill187
@Matt_Law_SM @DarrenArsenal1 £30m what planet are you on Matt?!
Matt Law @Matt_Law_SM
@dmill187 @DarrenArsenal1 didn't say anyone would pay it

Re: Football Season 2012/2013
I'd just let his contract run out, when he gets messed around at Liverpool he'll be back in 12 months on lower wages.

Either they are a pig in a poke, or a good player with a silly signing on fee

"We are working very hard. First of all we want to sort out the injuries we have, and we are trying very hard to close the deal with (Theo) Walcott. Once we have done that, we will certainly do something else. At the moment I cannot tell you more."

Of course he also said the squad is good, he isn't going to say otherwise is he?

While there's an annoyance that we've lost out to that odious (Deleted), the willingness of Remy (and his agent) to take the money and sign for a two-bit club playing in a Subbuteo stadium leads us to think that this isn't quite the end of the world.
At the risk of sounding like sour grapes, if this lad was so hot (and his stats aren't anything special), then why are Marseille happy to sell him and accept less than half the supposed previous asking price for doing so?
|
What actual Newcastle fans think of the Remy saga, I can't back the above nor can I be against it, I knew little about Remy but then again that might be due to the above 'stats' thing. All I know is I'm worried about splashing out on players that have a single league goal to their name at this point if that's what the club is happy to do.

Bayern Munich confirm Pep Guardiola will coach them next season.
It's done. Three year contract.

Oh probably. German football is a healthy state, Munich are a big club who can compete but like to bring up their own players and he'll be given a chance to impose a style of the team as that is presumably why they want him.
Manchester City or Chelsea would be clubs that you would think he might be ill-suited for.

Firstly because the Premier League is kind of a basket case at the moment. Struggling to dominate Europe is the way it did a few years ago and rampant and uncontrolled raises in wages and ticket prices which is not so pronounced in Germany. Then he wouldn't have confidence he would have the time needed to build the kind of team he is expected to build at either club, he would be under more pressure (although Munich isn't exactly pressure free). Finally he has hit out at City and Chelsea before and thus it might have appeared hypocritical for him to then go there.

Simply put it's probably that Germany is now a more attractive league now. They're doing better in the Champions League, they have an attractive footballing culture (loud fans buying cheap tickets), they have exciting teams and great managers. Klopp vs Guardiola? Nice.
