Re: Major TiVo Update
The 20.5.7.RC23 update rolled out in the Bournemouth & Poole (Wessex) area early Thursday am.
Not a lot has changed in the UI except for the pretty pictures and my TiVo doesn't seem noticeably quicker or slower.
Will keep an eye on things and report back with any weirdness if it occurs!

Bug, feature - it's in the eye of the beholder...

Re: Major TiVo Update
20.5.7.RC23 is now here in Northampton.
Is there official online info about the changes or are we expected to guess how it works?
Found it on page 26 of this thread.

Re: Major TiVo Update
Only thing I noticed was the channel number turning yellow when changing channels. That is very exciting, I must admit....
Seems slower too, if that's possible.

Just wait until you try On Demand menus. The Folder pictures take ages to load. They are just left blank until loaded. Not even the text is there.

I noticed that. But it seems that once they are loaded it's there and loads instantly on subsequent return visits to the menu.
---------------
The update is also in the Perth area now. It decided to do it half way into the Olympic Closing Ceremony so I awoke to 2 partial recordings and 25 minutes missed. You'd have thought Virgin Media would have seen sense that doing an upgrade during that might have annoyed a far above average number of viewers than is usual for that time of day.

Fortunately, the closing ceremony will be on catch up, but yes, how annoying!

I'm not seeing that at all. Mind you, my TiVo is a new replacement only installed this month.

Give it time- mine was like lightening when I first got it last March.
Novembers price rise is the last straw and I refuse to pay for it any longer than I have to.

Re: Major TiVo Update
... fully agree.
For a premium price should be a premium service. My 9 year old Freeview stb is faster and has more functionality than tivo...

Really? Can it even record two channels?

Re: Major TiVo Update
....no.
It is faster, menus and especially channel change. Catchup is faster too.
But what I like the most is the ability to reorder the channels on the position I want and on the number I want. It is the thing I find most frustrating about cable tv as the channels are put where they decide rather than where I want them.

Back in the NTL days there used to be a reorder channel option but back then you couldn't record and there was no recording option or catch up or on demand.
Guess progress also has its drawbacks.
