Virgin use Sky or Freeview to pick up all the channels to rebroadcast them on Virgin Media so if MTVN HD stop broadcasting on Sky then rebranded as MTV UK HD Virgin may carry it too.

The thread you linked to doesn't suggest a rebrand more a new channel MTV HD but it is only a rumour.
