Channel 5 +1 on the way, to Freeview, Freesat and BSkyB early next month. Virgin? "at some point next year."

Except when you have all three tuners engaged at the same time

Apart from the possibility of BBC HD becoming BBC 2 HD, I think we've had that until after the economic crisis ends and we start getting back to normal.

Which happens more often then not thanks to TiVo's inefficient use of tuners when padding is involved - plus suggestions will be recording now and then as well.

I don't watch that much on there myself, I just saw the news on Twitter and posted it on here. I'll leave it to other people to 'flood' this forum (or have nightmares regarding 'forum flooding') about a +1 channel.

Er....none? They're having to cut services, local radio, red button etc, so what are the realistic chances of another HD channel from them?

The BBC have to be platform-neutral and offer their services on all platforms - so where would they find the bandwidth on Freeview for another HD channel?

No money. No Freeview bandwidth. No chance.

BBC HD will close and BBC Two HD will be launched.

Launch a single version, with no variations in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, of BBC Two in HD in 2012 to replace the current BBC HD channel. Nations variations would continue in SD

Possibly they could make better use of Virgin OD and Sky Anytime+ etc. and add BBC Four (or other BBC channels) content to the on demand service.
Then again, how costly would that be to be an alternative to the channel.

More 4, Channel 4's successful digital channel is evolving. From January 2012 a channel re-brand will mark the introduction of an even clearer programming proposition with the schedule focusing more fully on popular factual and features - life enhancing content, helping viewers to get the most out of their everyday lives. Programming which offers insight and inspiration to the way they live, including homes, property, food, health and fashion, will form the main stay of a more user friendly schedule, but there will be an additional feel-good factor with quality acquisitions.

I imagine this may co-incide with the launch of More4 HD too ?

The TiVo 1TB is as above but is £49.95 for the box plus the install charge.
These days, I tend to avoid being an early adopter of new kit and, even a year on, I'm not convinced that the TiVo platform is stable yet. Although I will want the additional functionality of the TiVo at some stage, all I want now is the PVR facility that I believe I am entitled to at no extra cost as an XL customer.

Well now you're just confusing things by making up something called a V+HD Box and saying that the V Box is still being supplied which isn't what has already been stated.

My current equipment is a non-HD, non-PVR Pace Di4000-N V Box. My understanding is that the V+ Box (HD and PVR) is no longer being supplied to new customers but that the V HD Box (HD but non-PVR) is available along with a choice of two capacities of TiVo unit.

Presumably though, existing customers with a faulty V+ Box can still get a replacement so I wonder if these are still available as upgrades to existing V Box customers too. As an XL customer I would not expect to have to pay an additional monthly fee plus an upfront cost for a TiVo box just to have the HD and PVR functionality of a V+ Box.

Anyway, I realise that this has become an off-topic dialogue so is there a thread where I can get the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about V+ and V HD boxes?

If you read my post you should be able to move you're existing box to another room for no extra monthly charge.
http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/35...-post5688.html

You should get the free multiroom offer if you currently only have one box and are on TV XL. Which you do.
http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/35307907-post40.html

I personally think the £3 per month per box for customers on TV XL will not last long. I personally think they might increase the charge to £5 for TV M+ and TV L customers.

Which is just a channel renaming.

Not really a 'new' HD channel from the Beeb, is it? They have 2 HD channels now and will have 2 HD channels once BBC 2 HD gets up and running.
