Re: Football : Season 2007/2008
the thing is now UEFA have set a precendent will this happen every time someone dives during a match now or just when there is a public outcry ?
Gilardino did a blatant dive during the match and nothing happened to him

Re: Football : Season 2007/2008
Well, personally I didn't think that was a convincing display by England...
One goalkeeping error, one deflection & one own goal.
I thought Gerrard had a poor game, gave the ball away far too often and that chance near the end?
And why replace Owen with Lampard, surely Crouch would have been a far more positive option? OK we were winning 3 - 0, but nonetheless...

Re: Football : Season 2007/2008
Yep. Now to win on Wednesday and then be 1-0 up till 89 minutes against Italy before losing 2-1 in order to really be a proper Scotland team...
(Not that I'm hoping this happens, just being a realist. Lets face it. We are going to be in the 2nd pot at worst for the World Cup qualifying draw so a big yeeee haaaah! for that at least!)

Re: Football : Season 2007/2008
just got back from the glad. Very poor performance and not much atmosphere either.
At least we won which i think is the main thing, maybe against a better team on Weds we will play better

I didn't see the game but apparently it featured the best own goal ever?

Well, a header from outside the box into the bottom corner which is pretty amazing...

Look up 'woeful' in the dictionary and you'll see a picture of our defence.

From an England fans point of view, I think I would relish this
Thoughts?

I think it's a bit harsh on McClaren, people talking about sacking him already, he's only been in the job a few months and we are on course to qualify. I don't see the problem with McClaren, i think he's done okay so far and he deserves his chance.

Re: Football : Season 2007/2008
good and bad i guess. Not sure how well he would do with limited time in the International role with players.
he was lucky with Porto when a valid goal was ruled out to get to the final then with Chelsea he had millions to spend each year i'm not sure if he is as good as he thinks he is

I like the fact that McClaren has not resorted back to playing Lampard even though he is recovered from injury.
However Im not too sure about his overall decision making. I just wish he would drop Robinson, I cant understand why he's kept so much faith in him, even in the friendlies. And surely bringing back Heskey, although he played ok, isnt the best thing for the future of the England team. I dont think England needed Heskey to beat Russia at wembley.
