Incidently, is there a list of these issues anywhere that the EPG folk will take on board or is it just pointless to point out the problems we have ?

Re: [Merged] CR3-Feedback & Questions in Here Please.

There are things on this new software that simply defy logic.

When scrolling down the mini guide the selector jumps to the bottom of the two visible programmes. Consequently you sometimes have to go back up one in order to select the next programme for a reminder or to see programme info. The logic may well have been intended to make scrolling through the visible programmes in the miniguide quicker but it rather defeats the object sometimes.

Another thing is when you select a programme in the mini guide to see progamme information then the mini-guide will disppear after a few seconds so, unless that was all you wanted to do, you then have to go though it all again (finding the channel on the miniguide and then scrolling to where you were before). Of course you could have pressed "TV" and get a fixed mini-guide if you'd had the forsesight at that time but that is not the point.

What is this thing about having the "back" button take you back into the main guide instead of the previous programme to the one you were watching?
Another insane idea. It is just as easy to press "guide" again if you wanted to go back into it and not temporarily loose normal functionality of the back button (in terms of watching TV).

These and other stupid little things should have been sorted out in a proper user test before release.

The lack of page-up/down in the channels/mini-guide has been mentioned a lot. I'm not sure how they'd do it since you can now re-order your channels (so paging in absolute 100's aint gonna work as such) but it would still make life a bit easier if they could make it so that you can page-up/down in 10 channel steps.

Re: [Merged] CR3-Feedback & Questions in Here Please.

1:
I was hoping to see the channels coming together, like Discovery and nat geo channels, why is the nat geo +1 still up about the 800's compared to the nat geo at the 500's???

Can NTL put all relevant channels together? this would help me navigate better, instead of forgetting about them most of the time.

2:
why did NTL give us such a small screen in the guide menu screen of the channel we are curently watching, when most of the screen is taken up by the advert of the help channel, would it not be better if NTL utilised the space better and give us a bigger current channel screen instead?

3:
when in the guide menu, when I check the channels, once i have seen what is in the first screen why when I press down, to see what should be on the next channel, does the yellow highlight go down a few spaces. e.g.
checked in guide channel 702,703,704 went to next page but highlight automatically at 713, not at expected 705 (this was just an example, numbers may not be completely correct,)

Sam gave us the answer to this earlier in this thread:

We do get an awful lot of good feedback from our customer service teams and in other ways as well, but there are also people watching this thread and pulling out any useful pieces of information - so this feedback is definitely being used.

I agree. I don't think it is intuitive to keep the selector in the same relative position; pressing down should always mean move to the next programme. As you say, this may have been intentional for quicker programme browsing but it means that the up/down buttons have different actions in the same section of the EPG, giving me something else to try to remember.

I think this is a similar point; pressing up/down seems to keep the selector in the same relative position when changing pages rather than actually move it to the next channel. In otherwords, the up/down buttons are actually behaving as page up/down buttons in certain circumstances, hence you don't get to 705 from 704 (or whatever the correct channel numbers are ). As with the Mini Guide, I think it would be more intuitive to make the up/down buttons behave in the same way throughout the Guide rather than giving them two behaviours.

Have you tried rebooting your box??? That tends to solve it down here.

Thanks, yes I'm doing a lot of rebooting! That cures the problem for a few days, then seems to forget to get the listings again.

Will the performance improve when the roll out is done?
Does the bandwidth used sending out the software degrade the performance?

Can I have the speed of CR2 back? :o

Can I have a remote control that has feedback that is not measured in 10th of seconds?

Thinking of Sky+ and second STB Stephen.

Dunno why everyone is so anxious to get it. Its completely crap and as soon as you've updated you'll wish to god you had the old epg back.

I'm seriously considering moving to Sky now. I've been with NTL for about 4 years now, pay £115 a month to them for all the gubbinz. But this new EPG just runs like a dog and no end in sight. It makes organising program viewing a complete nightmare and no joke I've reverted back to using the newspaper to find out whats on. Its the proverbial straw.
