Thanks SP, think I'll do it before bed then.
Since the update, recent recordings are being listed with the wrong duration (but are correct in reality) eg a one hour programme was listed as 2:57, yet when I went into it, it said 1hr and had only recorded for one hour too.
Last week one programme that aired at the correct time started & finished about 20 mins early!

Maybe VM removing the fancy graphics permanently would be a good idea to speed the thing up?
One week! More like one hour with mine

Would be fine by me, I'm sure we all ignore the ads at the top of the screen anyway and the channel icons all get chopped off the screen since the latest update. It did make me think the extra icons for the new channels recently had tipped it over the edge for most of us. Maybe the odd person who insists Tivo is not slow (and doesn't have a vested interest) only has a limited channel package?
Good luck removing your suggestions but I would almost guarantee it won't make any difference.

Same here and if my Tivo went a week without rebooting itself, I'd be praising a miracle.

Re: Major TiVo Update
I've had this update for a few weeks and it has slowed my TiVo box down to a crawl. The home nene ans to guide alone takes 5-10 seconds to load and when setting recordings I get a purple circle and nothing happens for ages and the box crashes and needs resetting.
Another issue is when loading on demand I get a black screen with no response at all until I deceive to reboot the box.
The TiVo is a Samsung box and since the update is not worth using.

The little TiVo man logo on the Home screen has been replaced by the word "TiVO".
If you really don't have the software, drop me a PM with your account or box number, and I'll investigate

Are you able to tell us which areas get the update this week, spiderplant?

Re: Major TiVo Update
Got the update in Southampton (SO16) either last night or over the weekend. We have been watching Olympics on our Fire TV box as the BBC Sport app on TiVo was so unusably slow so didn't notice when the change happened. Menus did seem much snappier when I was switching over to watch BBC Breakfast this morning though. Will have to see how it fairs over the next couple of weeks.

No, even I don't know.
But as it happens, we've made a start on your region today. If you have a Cisco box, reboot it and it'll update. If it's a Samsung, you can't update it yourself but it'll probably get done in the next few days.

Yes, it's a Cisco - thanks, spiderplant, I look forward to seeing what it's like, as long as it doesn't crash my box!

Re: Major TiVo Update
.... that's assuming VM place the new UI on existing tivos. They may not, especially if the boxes can't handle the software.

Re: Major TiVo Update
I'm in Stockport and have the new update.
Unfortunately it has turned my TiVo box from being 'slow' to being 'Ah, you pressed a button' one minute after pressing it... Grrrr.....

Re: Major TiVo Update
I now have the update. Seems good so far and worked well last night. The search function is definitely much better.
The picture menus you now get with catch up and on demand are not the nice swishy ones you get on Netflix, but they are an improvement on the lists we had before, which were a little off-putting when tired!
Still have to try out the series links, but all good so far.
