Wouldn't change a word of that post.

They've changed rules, banned re-fuelling, introduced mew teams, and what's it done. The grand total of nothing.

I think it's hard to tell on a track like Bahrain, come Australia now that should show the changes to a greater extent.

Congrats to Alonso, Massa and Hamilton for 1st, 2nd and 3rd

I fell asleep after the start...though woke up to see the Vettel ending.

I think they should make drivers run 20 yards over an obstacle course..when they come in to change tyres...then start back in the race. That will add a bit of excitement

Gotta agree with this, it now seems like it will be more of a moving advertising spectacle than ever before. Completely void of any excitement, anticipation, unpredictability, etc, etc.

Iv`e given my view on re-fueling before so won`t again, after all the hype this reminded me of the saying

Re: Formula 1 2010 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

Well I am very disappointed in this, it was just a glorified procession with no real excitement.

F1 should be about wheel to wheel racing but if the drivers are forced to play the conservation game then the FIA have comprehensively stuffed this sport.

The drivers are forced to conserve their tyres but that was ok as they have always had to but they could risk it more by picking up a slip stream, use their skill to drive through the dirty air and be the last of the late braker’s to attempt a move as they knew they would pit 2/3 times a race, but now we saw Ferrari deliberately avoid this as they had to conserve their engines too as well as even more so their tyres.

All this crap about the points system with a larger gap between 1st and 2nd to encourage the drivers to go for the win won’t work if the 1st race of the season is anything to go by, all we will see is the pole sitter sprint away and possibly the championship wrapped up early in the season.

If this is the format of the season then bye bye F1

Re: Formula 1 2010 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

the thing is even during the refueling eras we still had a procession it's just with less stops there was less so called changes of position.

My main problem with F1 at the moment is all the computers and sensors they have on the cars. We see too often drivers checking what their team mate does and then learning they can brake later for a corner etc, or even worse the engineers who don't even drive the car tell a driver that due to the data they can brake later for a corner. I'm sure if you took that away you would get more of the human side back in F1 and that would help get more racing

Re: Formula 1 2010 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

The main problem is that the main teams are so adept at getting 99.9999% out of the technical specs and the drivers are 99.9999% clinical in thier driving that unless something goes wrong the procession is the end result.

It's not the FIA's fault that the teams and drivers are so good.. Probably the only way the FIA could go is to reduce the technology and technical involved (for example ban fuel injection, computers, remove spoilers/wings/diffusers, reduce the tyre contact patch and harden up the compounds..) Only then might you start getting some variance in not only cars but also driving techniques

I don't think using carbs would help, and they tried reducing tyre contact with grooved tyres and that didn't change a thing.

They should just strip the car of all electrical aids, get rid of the semi-automatic gear box's too.

They should reduce the amount of wing allowed too, and ban all these fancy wing diffusers that really churn the air up.

Drivers should be drivers, not passengers.

Fuel injection is an electrical aid

One possible quick fix is to introduce two mandatory pit stops, although F1's problems are more deep-rooted than that as the issue regarding a lack of overtaking has long been a thorny one.

Another Ecclestone proposal, one he aired recently and has again revisited, is the possibility of creating short cuts at each track.
"A driver could use it so many times a race so that if he really gets stuck behind somebody he could still get past," said Ecclestone.

Re: Formula 1 2010 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

Unfortunately, because Mrs Flyboy said something about something called "Mothers' Day," we went out. The disc was full and I only got the first half of the race. Does anyone know why it wasn't on catch-up?

Where did Hispania come from? I must have missed that announcement.

Jake Humphrey said that Q3 was a one lap session. I know I was a bit busy Saturday, but I could have sworn I saw them do more than one lap each.

Re: Formula 1 2010 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

They should bring back Turbos.

Mansell Honda williams could wheelspin in all 6 gears.

The main problem, is the cash restrictions that are imposed on the teams.

Re: Formula 1 2010 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

Something that to me seems odd is that whenever i watch an Indy Car race, whether it be on an oval or `proper` track the action seems to be a lot better with the cars seeming to be able to travel close behind one another without it messing things up (and they still have rear wings, etc).
There is a lot more overtaking and it`s just generally more exciting as a whole package. Why can they get it right whereas Formula 1 chops and changes all the time with the promise of improved action which never comes to fruition.

At the moment the most iconic motorsport brand is being turned into an egomaniacs farce!
