Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)

Well it probably doesn't as without STM I have never had any issues getting good speeds.

How ever the STM really seem to hit harder than it should and I'm already miffed that the speed doubling didn't double the upload speed until the 120mb upgrade has been done.

I just can't see myself staying with Virgin for long once FTTC has been rolled out in Wishaw.

Was looking back to the the last two days worth of graphs and its amazing how much the blue shots up in the graph when the STM hits and I did some brief speed tests last night and my upload speed was sub 1mbit from all the sites I tried and latency was much higher than usual even from the trusty Preston speedtest site which gives me constant low latency even better than the new Virgin hosted Glasgow site.

It's so bad that even facebook gaming is affected and really slow at loading.

Interesting goings on in CV3

The first red line is not me, but the 2nd and 3rd are me rebooting SH2. Still on 6 channels down and 1 up. We are due to be on 120Mb by the end of May. I know that CV1, student land, has been suffering from congestion and were due for a fix, resegmenting etc, by 22nd. May.

Looks like the SH1 is better on latency, any idea why, I thought someone mentioned they ran the same firmware?

They don't run the same firmware because the DOCSIS chip drivers have to be different.

I get the same latency in router mode as a did on the SH1 when I did some pre-SH2 tests.

BUT ... in the early part of the trial I was getting high jitter. You can see in the attached picture towards the left there is the modem mode bathtub, then router mode, then a short modem mode bathtub, then router mode and a sudden and so far permanent drop in jitter whilst in router mode.

Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)

Still 6 downstreams, 2 upstreams here and no sign of the 120mbit profile. 6 days to go...

Edit: Sonofa... We estimate your area will be ready between July 2013 and September 2013.

Nice of them to notify us of their change. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
