Re: Formula One Motor Racing
Where would Button have finished if it were not for the 10 place engine change penalty?
And what was the gizmo that they weren't allowed to use?

oh yes - brilliant drive by Button, amazing how he kept it together considering the problems he had with his helmet strap
I thought The TV director helped the enjoyment of the race by concentrating on the action, rather than showing Shumacher circulating on his own. The dice between Button & Alonso was the nearest I've seen to proper racing in any race this season.
It was also nice to see DC there or there abouts, but you have to feel sorry for Raikonnen - shame 'cos he looked the most likely to give Shumacher a race, for a change.
Got to wait 3 weeks now

Re: Formula One Motor Racing
Did I miss something I watched the start, and dipped in between overs, but when it came to a choice of another Schumacher win and watching Andrew (Freddie) Flintoff, flail the West Indies bowling into the stands it was no contest.

pretty damned scary was kimi's accident , i must admit to being a little surprised to see mclaren keeping dc out on the track after a failure like that , can you imagine the outcry if dc had the same problem and was injured or even killed

Hmm, JB's fastest lap was about 1/3 of a second slower than MS's. That's a big difference. I think JB'll get a win maybe next season but good as the BAR is he'll need a better car to be a serious contender. When's Rubens planning to retire?

Re: Formula One Motor Racing
and the fact that they fuelled up jb's car means nothing , if they had fuelled him up but he didnt have the penalty of starting 13th , makes me wonder it does

Yes, I agree, the BAR is a real surprise this year, and the car suits JB (and Taku when the engine isn't spreading itself over the racing line ...), I just don't think its as good as the Ferrari, and I don't think JB is as good as MS.
But that doesn't stop him from being a great driver. It's his bad luck *for now* that he's racing while MS & Ferrari are dominating so much, but I think in about 5 years he'll see the benefits when MS&F are no longer the same force and JB'll have all the experience from having had such a high target to aim at when he were a real slip of a lad.
Future champion? Just maybe.

i was thinking about this the other day.. basically for Ferrari now read Benetton 94-95. They bought Shuey and then he got Ferrari to sign Bryne, Brawn etc from Benetton. yes they have developed some people in house since then but alot of the team was purchased from others during the 90s.. not sure what the old man would have made of Ferrari today
