Can talk about the Mercedes not being fast enough but you can't forget that McLaren that's consistently failed him on numerous occasions now. It's not a shock to see him leave especially not off the back of yet another disaster for the McLaren. Rosberg has shown the car can make the podium with him in it so I'm sure Lewis can show that it's even better. Can't base a car on Rosberg's driving and certainly not on a well past it Schumacher. Take a look where Kimi is in a Lotus, down to not retiring race after race and getting consistent points finishes. If the Mercedes stays on the track all year and Hamilton can get it in the podiums then there's no doubt he'll walk the championship. Consistency is what Hamilton needs and McLaren just don't have any at the moment. 5 in the last 7 races have seen only one McLaren finish a race. Not good enough.
Next season's car will be based on Hamilton and people are quick to forget Redbull weren't half as quick a few seasons back.

From what i have read Lewis is looking at the furture propsect there not nest season. There is no number 1 driver there next season so Lewis and Nico will be battleing to get that status which will be intresting. I think Lewis should be looking at his 4th world title now but he isnt sadly. LEts hope he can mange more title wins with Mercedes.
Perez in a Mclaren will be intresting as he is a good young driver and it will give Jenson the chance to show us what he can do now Lewis isnt in the team

Re: Formula 1 2012 season
I presume he's going where he believes the engine prospects are best.. 2014 will seriously limit engine configuration and at that time McLaren will no longer be the primary engine customer so Mercedes can give priority to their own team.
I really do hope it works out for him but going on this years performance he is cutting his throat especially for next year though he will be involved with the team for the full years preparations for 2014

I feel Perez could easily win some races but the same problems that's occurring now will occur again next year unless McLaren change whatever it is they are doing so differently than the other teams. I wonder if the focus does move over to Button though, Wouldn't surprise me to see him second best to Perez. If Hamilton's car was more consistent there would be no doubt he'd be a multiple world champion now. Once he's out front there's no catching him, except for another breakdown or complete fail of a pitstop.
It's a shame and we all probably know what he's feeling from this and last season, think it was last year he finished out of the points twice due to retirement but was still in title contention, had he simply picked up points in both of those races he'd be world champion. It's annoying to look back on. Something has to give at McLaren, someone has to start the ball rolling with this consistency issue rather than sit back and say we'll do better next week, only to fail to bring two cars home yet again.
With Button I feel the only time he wins it's because the car is near perfect for the race, slight niggle and he's back down the field, with Lewis he can wrestle a crap McLaren to a podium. Interestingly people keep pointing to the regulation changes in 2009 as McLaren's issue here, something they are still to come to grips with.

Schumacher has announced his 2nd retirement.. I wonder if being third choice behind Lewis and Sergio for the Mercedes seat had anything to do with it??

Re: Formula 1 2012 season
About time. He might have won 7 titles, but his driving style when at Ferrari left a lot to be desired. I've never been a fan, but do respect the title wins. As I say, the driving style put me off him.
Hamilton won't do any better in a Mercedes car than Schumacher or Rosberg.

He only won 7 world tites as the rules and reg were based around him. Look at the Senna film for example where he won the 94 title as they had stuff in car that was banned. I think he is a good driver but not world class

Re: Formula 1 2012 season
Although apparently there is a chance he will be penalised for blocking Alonso. Damn Ferrari always get the decisions in their favour, I'm sick of it.

Re: Formula 1 2012 season
Yet another race in which the McLaren's weren't working, Gearbox for Button and horrendous understeer for Hamilton.
People still wondering why Hamilton is jumping ship? McLaren have got everything wrong this year and it's only getting worse. Credit to both Button and Hamilton for getting the cars over the line.
My support for McLaren is fading fast but I'm still for anyone as long as RedBull don't win.

I wonder who Sauber will get next season, I often find them more entertaining than any other team.

I don't think that you should take any notice of Hamilton's performance.. He's made it clear that he's leaving so he won't really care about the rest of this season and will probably be looking for any reason to vindicate his decision.. Also his mechanics will feel betrayed and won't really care for the rest of the season.. Before you say it yep it's not a way to run a business but it's life and how people feel effects how they work.
