Maybe it is the shot in the arm Nistelrooy needs, I don't think I could stand watching another whole season of him falling all over the place like he has been pole axed, he even done it against Beijing Hyundai
Nice to see Rooney leading from the front without the sidelined Nistelrooy, in the last game of the Far Eastern Tour * Link*
Rooney & Owen should make a good strike force, should it happen.

Re: The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
I have never rated RVN, nearly all his goals are pretty much point blank range, so I dont think its the case of him been not so good I think its just defenders working him out. He needs pinpoint service to the goal mouth and if he doesnt get it he wont score.

I can't speak for the others, but I seem to remember that Russ used to live in Manchester.
As for me, I may live in Grimsby but I grew up about 5 miles from Aston and 4 miles from West Bromwich, so I had a choice between West Brom and Villa, and chose Villa

Glory seeker!!
Nah, I am just jealous, because I live about 20 minutes drive from Spurs and about 30 mins from Highbury. Still, you play the hand you are dealt.
It is a shame, if I lived 10 mins away in one direction I could have been a much happier, less bitter man (with more hair too).

Mind you, I lived in Walsall until I was 6 but hey, I wasn't old enough to make an informed choice then

You do realise that the Villa are one of the main reasons for my follicle challenge, don't you

Man Utd rule out Owen bid
Manchester United have reportedly joined Arsenal, Chelski and Liverpool in ruling out a move for Michael Owen.
The Daily Telegraph claims that 'well-informed sources' have told the newspaper that Man Utd 'have no plans to sign' Owen.

Re: The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
Not happy about that Owen report - I'd love to see him and Rooney up front. I don't see the problem with his wages though - getting rid of RVN will certainly help.

Oh back on that old chestnut are we?
I'm half way between OT and Burnden Park, but thankfully my family were kind and considerate and made me follow Man Utd, not Bolton. That was before the 1992/93 by the way
Maybe when they set up the FA, they should have set a rule that you have to live within a certain distance from a club? It would be tough for those living in remote areas, but hey....

Re: The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
Crystal Palace have fended of premiership clubs and signed andy johnson up for 5 years, good news that been relegated doesnt always mean losing your best players but bad news for the rest of the league

Re: The Football Thread 2005/2006 Season
Celtic played really well tonight.
I am happy with the scoreline, happy with the performance. But just a bit sad we could not get that extra much needed fifth goal.
Well done CELTIC
