It was all talk. It would have been political suicide for the council to evict Forest in the run-up to local elections and create 30,000+ in one city who won't vote for them. Evicting Forest would also affect several businesses in the WB area who will lose a lot of their trade- and make them ****ed with the council too.

Basically Doughty was trying to get the debt restructured so he could get the freehold on the land and its environs for personal development plans. (IIRC) He was trying to use it as a bargain to get what he wanted- that's a capitalist for you. Except he hadn't factored in the public money factor so in the end he just paid it himself.

And they wouldn't have evicted us anyway seeing as the lease is extremely long-term (about 100 years left).

Always knew we'd see him in the Premiership one day, although I hoped it would be for Man United

That I agree with, it is hard to imagine them been actually evicted. Would cause chaos. Going back to Leics, Most fans are ashamed that the old board took such a big gamble and want it behind us, the current board is taking no such gambles, we spending less then clubs who dont have the parachute payment from been in the premiership as we are now making sure the figures add up. I just got angry that people dont see the administration thing as of how it actually happened we didnt deliberatly and want to goto administration and it is a distressing thing not knowing if your club will exist the next year, yes we came out of it very well but that was due to the administrator working a miracle and linekar with his consurtiom getting the cash together to recover.

Shame the fine wasn't bigger as it could have been, but maybe he will cop it in the next trial.

That's less than a tv licence (£126). blooming disgrace.

Nice article here, might buy the book.

Losing it

Thanks to a freak win in their final league game last year, East Stirlingshire narrowly avoided becoming the worst football team in Britain - ever. So what's it like to play for a club with a home gate of 200 and a weekly wage of just £10 (paid in cash)? Jeff Connor spent the following 12 months trying to find out. Ahead of the new season, we publish an extract from his book...
