The vast majority of football commentators on all channels and the Sky cricket commentators should all learn from Test Match Special. Such funny and often insightful commentary and there is rarely any silence. Lets not forget how good Barry Davies was, on all the sports he covered too.
You are spot on with your comment, (ITV were the worst in my eyes - it's been a long time since I watched a game of footie on TV though) and I simply do not understand how companies can not see they are hiring the wrong commentators and/or doing something wrong. There are good commentators in many sports and also lessons to be learned from how well radio can report on the same matches.
Baffles me completely.

Thanks for the post. The other day on the athletics a Brit came FOURTH in a first round race. Just made round 2. He was exhausted doing it. BBC showed him in slow mo three times blethering on about his ability and his power and his effort. Then they interviewed him which was even worse....

I'm not shocked. As usual I knew VM would get it and with a better deal for customers :-)

Sanity prevails...
Wondered if something was brewing as Virgin TV Anywhere wouldn't load earlier this morning.
