My young brother has the same phobia as you Tinky as for nearly 40 years he would not go on a plane but thankfully with the families help he can cope with flying now and now cannot wait for his next holiday abroad..

Refurbished laptop for wife's Christmas present.
She wants to get back to work so needs own laptop and fed up of sharing with the kids. This is 3rd from the same company. Yes I found a better one with some upgrade options elsewhere but a quick search on the company found some very unhappy customers.
I'll strip off Win 7 and put on Linux. If I can find a good price for Win 10 I may add that too. Some seeming good offers til you read the small print that it includes a broken PC to comply with licensing (fair enough) but free postage then become £85 to get the bust PC to you. So Win10 for less than £10 isn't what it pretends to be.
