Re: Virgin Media to raise broadband and phone prices in Feb 2015

I cancelled my phone and TV on the 18th of December and although the month's notice meant I have the service until the 17th of January I got the box delivered before Xmas (it was in a plactic cover and thrown over my back gate with a note posted through the letterbox telling me there was a parcel in the garden!).

As I was taking the Xmas decorations down on Saturday and already had Sky reinstalled I disconnected the boxes and put them in the box supplied (one Tivo and one VHD box fit inside) and took it back to a collection point (a nearby convenience store). Its a throwback to the Generation Game putting it together but quite clever!

Unfortunately I omitted to include one of the viewing cards which I had to take out to get a spanner to the cable to disconnect the box. Don't know if they will want it back but I have emailed them.

I'd ring and check its on its way!

I'll be surprised if they notice, or indeed care.

Re: Virgin Media to raise broadband and phone prices in Feb 2015

Out with the old, in with the new. I've just agreed a new package for slightly less than the new cost of my existing one.

The TV XL and unlimited calls packages remain, plus I get upgraded to Tivo box and BB upped to 152mb via a new superhub for £70.99. I also paid a year line rental up front (£144) which reduces the monthly payment to around £54 IIRC meaning I'll actually be paying the equivalent of £66 pm if my maths is correct. I also got a £20 credit on the account.

Wonder if VM will follow in sister companty UPC Ireland's footsteps and announce a 240 Mbps service before February?

3rd price increase since the announcement of 'free' speed doubling. Still haven't got my speed doubled. New supplier installing monday. After 15 years I'm gone.

Don't blame you. It's a disgrace to increase the price for customers who haven't had their speed upgrade yet. The least they could do is freeze the price until you've been upgraded.

You're still paying too much for that package. Ring them and cancel - a better deal will soon be offered.

The prices changes are not connected to the inclusive speed increases. Never have been.

They should be. Get more pay more, don't get more pay the same, makes sense to me.

They offered me diddly squat so after 25 years it's gone.

It annoyed me so much that they didn't offer anything, even though i was paying more than it said on the website, that i'll never go back now.

They've lost me forever

You'll probably get a call in a few days time offering you a 'deal' now they know you mean business. All a bit of a farce really.

Re: Virgin Media to raise broadband and phone prices in Feb 2015

Quite. It wasn't until they had a request from another provider to port my phone number that I got a serious offer, which then left me with a bit of work to do to cancel my new provider. Hopefully next time they'll know better and offer me the best deal up front.
