It all depends, but get used to the words "Can you hit it with a signal now"
The engineer says that a lot on the phone :p

Have you ever missed any payments or been in debt with them?

Good stuff, I know Warrington got extra TLC and fingers crossed not too many 20Mbit modems on each upstream!

Re: 50Mb areas
Hi,
When they come to setup my 50mb
What should that do. Do they just connect the modem, make the call to get it running and run a speedtest, or do they do something else ?

Come in, unplug old modem, plug there machine in to check levels, plug in new modem, ring activation number and ask for a hit to be sent and then another and another and another until modem comes online properly and you get a internet IP address, they run the speed test, anything over 40mb is a pass.
Also dont forget there are two sides to the Seven Kings exchange, one has capacity problems the other dont, and the one that does is being fixed tomorrow (Monday). So if speeds are not what you expect, dont worry too much. I've been as bad as 26mb and 900k upload over the last two days and I know at non busy times I get the same results as the guy above.

Re: 50Mb areas
what are the sort of power levels we should expect from the 50mbit modems? It will be helpful to know so we can identify any problems in advance like with downstream snr etc

They check to make sure the cabling coming into the house is of the newer type, if that looks ok then it gets booked out to networks as a fault.
When my test was done i hit 42mb so he left and within 30 minutes my problems started so booked it into faults, and when they started refusing, went straight to the top and complained and hence why hardware is being changed tomorrow.

Anyone? Not expecting exact schedules of course, but rough estimate? Presumably they will work through each of the different Salford districts one by one?
Is there any way i can tell when i've switched over? i.e. will my modem jump onto on of the docsis 3 UBRs?

I think only Tech Support can confirm the availability of 50Mb in your area as even the connection link at the top of the page cannot tell you what model your uBR is.
