Angry Re: Slowness in Bromley, Kent

Mine is 10Mb and rebooting did not solve the problem. I tried waiting 1 minute, 5 minutes and 2 hours. No diff.

The transparent proxy server I'm automatically assigned keeps changing, it's currently 80.1.224.14

I think the problem is worse during the day. Probably the proxies get overloaded.

I noticed that as well last night. I can't see why swapping would cause the problem unless the swapping is happening because the proxies are overloaded??

@neoapple: I'd hold out on that - if I want to upgrade to a separate cable modem & STB, so I get the full 10M service, I expect to pay the £50 (though I still think it's a sh*tty idea & way too much cost). If NTL are saying they want to separate your ethernet from the STB, they should waive the cost & absorb it themselves.

PS: As in my previous post - what speedtest software are you using?

Re: Slowness in Bromley, Kent

i used the speed test here.
Im so dam anoyed with NTL. It went down again today as well! They keep saying it's fixed but it dam well is never fixed!

Im paying money and what do i get?
Tech support blames my router but i know for a fact it's not that
Tech support cant find half of the STB downtime logs, yet i know for a fact that when middle green light flashes it means BB is down!.... hmm go figure NTL
Tech support have so far installed 2 signal filters, given me new cables, new connections, and checked street box YET my issue is not fixed.....
Im about to go crazy here! Even my TV freezes up. Sometimes i need to reboot STB 2 or more times to get internet back and TV.
Thats leaving STB off for 2 mins then turning it back on.

Hell the dam thing rebooted it's self at about 9:30 PM when i was recording walking with the dead...... Do i need to call an exorsist? Local priest?
Sometimes can never find my subscribed channels. Locks up on channel changing then decides to change when it feels like it.

Re: Slowness in Bromley, Kent

Surely they should give you a SACM if it solves the problem then it would be cheaper for them than having to send out an engineer every few days

Yup, mine's dog slow too. 10Mb running at less than 1Meg..... Obviously a major issue somewhere which I guess they should know about, I can't be arsed to sit on their support line for half the day though, only to be told to 'reboot the box'...

Bring back my good old 3Mb - never a problem, I didn't want the upgrade!

why not downgrade to the 4mbit package then? It should be faster than your 3mbit was and cheaper to!
