Re: Bulldog Doubles Broadband Speed
I agree with the last 2 posters, it's customer service and billing that's the main issue.
We've had our connection since ......November 2005ish and it's never gone down more than an hour in all that time.
Luckily, i've only had to contact customer services on 2 occasions, both times weren't great, but the problems were sorted.
What I will never understand, is if the customer service system and the billing system is automated, why on earth does it mess up so badly?

Re: Bulldog Doubles Broadband Speed
Can I ask a question about transferring to Bulldog from NTL.
I would need a new line installing, but that would only cost £1, if you take the Unlimited Plus package. All in all to get the bees knees package, it would come to approx. £35 per month. Which is fair. Sorry that's not my question.
Question is, could I keep the NTL TV Package I have, but transfer my line rental and broadband & phone service over to Bulldog? Yes I know the phrase having 2 slices of cake springs to mind, but I really would like to keep the Cable TV.

You can keep the ntl DTV, but they will continue to bill you for the phone line as they don't offer the 2 thigns seperately.
You can:
1) Cancel-they may even offer you a discount to stay which will cover your ntl phone line rental.
2) Get Sky.
3) Get Freeview.
HTH.

Re: Bulldog Doubles Broadband Speed
Cant say i've been as unhappy with Bulldog as i was with ntl, i'm sure that might change one day, but ntl want to give the minimum service for the maximum cash.
My phone bill is cheaper too.

My friend is with Bulldog and hasn't had any issues with them, he's hoping to get 16-24Mbps soon though ....

Re: Bulldog Doubles Broadband Speed
My order with bulldog seems to be back on now.
Suddenly the online checker also says available.
I got a pending order with BT £125 install, they want me to cancel but I told them when my welcome pack arrives with install date I will cancel the BT order.
So bulldog £30 install and free wiresless router

Re: Bulldog Doubles Broadband Speed
I would also be content with 8meg noone I know on bulldog at all sees any kind of contention, so would suit me fine, I am a bit concerned now tho about install date.
Bulldog hell got reports of 6 week lead times, and I heard the guy on phone mutter 6 weeks somewhere in the conversation so I do hope it isnt going to be 6 weeks.
My area was originally saying available in june, then said july so rejecting orders. They rang up and said then can order now available and of course website says available but I do wonder if this is just for advance orders and july remains the real available month, I have been told I will have a date in my welcome pack which arrives this week.

Re: Bulldog Doubles Broadband Speed
Which is bad as around here they get beat to the punch by cable, every time. Which means they probably have the equipment sat there gathering dust when it could be used in a different area, like yous Chrysalis.
Although i wouldn't mind going on Bulldog now i know i would sync at around 7Mbps...

Re: Bulldog Doubles Broadband Speed
I live nextdoor to the BT exchange, so I did a check to see about Bulldog, and according to the map, they dont have any LLU exchanges in the northeast!!!

Re: Bulldog Doubles Broadband Speed
I am 1.8km straight distance and I think anything upto around 2km supposedbly can get 8mbit so I am hoping and fingers crossed my line doesnt take too many scenic routes on the way.

Re: Bulldog Doubles Broadband Speed
Telephone lines don't go as the crow flies very often, normally they follow roads and paths. Hope you get lucky though.

Re: Bulldog Doubles Broadband Speed
yeah its starting to look liek I picked a very bad address.
I looked at samknows and position of exchanges and Leics has a blackhole for broadband.
For cable this area has analogue tv but no broadband, I believe its the case for the 3 large housing estates near me including the one where my sister lives.
For ADSL looking at the map their is 2 exchanges in town but on the other side so they are far side not near side, then on the other side of town on a 10km wide map their is 5 exchanges covering that area looks like max 3km between them. On my side of town their is just 1 exchange right at the edge of the map at least 5km away from the two in town. Their is just a big gap which looks like BT need to stick an exchange in the middle of it, I would estimate I am 4-4.5 km away from the outside town exchange and samknows says I am 1.8 from the nearest town exchange and the other one is almost on top of it so I would guess probably 2km from the other. So the exchanges are not spread out evenly and very unblanced quite a few on other side of the city and just one covering all of east leicester. To me it looks like if anyone wants a sudden influx of customers that is one area to setup in, because if I am not mistaken (stu can confirm if I am right) all of that area is not ntl broadband enabled I am talking about a good 20k+ houses at least. The area is all adsl enabled but large distances from exchange so people are probably getting sub 2meg if anything. If ntl upgraded the area I would certianly expect high penetration as the adsl is probably poor there. I myself am not in the middle of the gap but certianly looking borderline of what looks like to be a black hole in a big city and populated area.
I will post the map later if I get permission to publish it of the samknows author.

Oh I forgot haha.
The latest romours on bulldog here doesnt look too good, I wasnt expecting bulldog to be here in 5 years but was expecting them to last at least a year given their recent expenditure in tv ads.

I am glad I left my BT order going so I may well forget bulldog now, and use normal BT ipstream for a few months and switch to BE when they get to my exchange in sept. I may stick with bulldog if they agree to not put me on annual contract and give me some sort of comfort that they not going to dissapear next month.

Bulldog are no longer taking new residential or small business customers as of 1st July. Looks like Bully can't handle the customers they already have.
