Re: slobodan milosevic dead?
I hope this thread is not going to be as aggressive as others we have seen..I think people are allowed to have an opinion.I may not agree entirely with the way some of us express ourselves but I won't be jumping down everyone's throats because of it.
Just because someone says that they would like someone to be tortured doesn't mean that in reality they expect it.It's just them expressing how awful they found this man's crimes to be.In reality I suspect not one of us would indulge in torture or want it to occur in our names. However this is not something that Milosovic would have thought twice about in my opinion.
I'm sure that everyone wanted this man to be found guilty and punished according to international law because we are much better people than those who are presently being prosecuted in the Hague.

Re: slobodan milosevic dead?
I'm finding it amusing the way newsreaders on tv and radio are adopting pathetic Serb accents when pronouncing his name. I've heard SluhBodon, Slobeedan, Slu-berdon etc etc

Exactly! Though most of these people never acknowledge or have no concept that they've done anything wrong.

Apparently, (according to Dutch radio) traces of drugs for Leprosy and TBC which neutralise the drugs he was taking for hypertension and heart problems were found in his blood in January. Blood tests were done as his regular medication was not effective. This has been confirmed by a tribunal spokesman. If this is true (and it is treated as a very real possibility), it suggest he was either killed or committed suicide. The post mortem will include a toxicological investigation.

Re: slobodan milosevic dead?
And how are they going to prove suicide? His supported will claim murder no matter what evidence is provided. If they were trying to kill him then I can think of quicker/ easier ways to kill someone with blood pressure and heart problems.

I'm just stating the facts as they are reported on the Dutch news. The facts certainly sound very suspicious, suicide is a possibility precisely because it would be such an odd way to kill someone. But then again, it's not very easy to kill someone in a high security prison...

Preliminary results from the autopsy conducted on Slobodan Milosevic indicate he died of a heart attack, sources at The Hague tribunal say.
Official results from the examination are expected within an hour.

These claims are apparently from a letter Slobbers wrote the day before he died. How convenient. I'm sure it's just a ruse to try and throw suspicion on his death - no doubt to see if they can raise some hullabaloo back in Serbia. Sure that wouldn't be too difficult.
It also seems his family are arguing over where he should be buried. His wife wants him buried in Russia, where she's hiding from international law, and his brother wants a state funeral, no less, in Serbia.
Personally, I think they should dig a shallow grave in a remote valley and dump him there.

These claims have been confirmed by a tribunal spokesperson and the toxicologist that was in charge of the blood tests. Apparently, Milosevic was also refusing to take his medication at some point, and it was therefore checked that he did take them. It wouldn't surprise me if he was purposely taking the drugs (Rifampicin according to Dutch media) that neutralised his medication so he could claim he was being poisoned/murdered. Make a martyr out of himself and stop the trial from coming to a conclusion and get convicted. Nice...

According to the newspaper Volkskrant, Dr. Uger, the toxicologist suspects that Milosovic was taking the drug to support his claim that Dutch doctors were unable to treat his condition. He had put in a request to travel to Russia to see doctors there, but this reguest was turned down by the tribunal. An elaborate escape plan? Or was he trying to see his wife who is hiding in Russia?

Both are possibilities, as is murder. The drug was found in his blood. How it got it there is speculation.
