Like so many people these days it seems to me that you are simply intent on making money out of someones error. That letter does not even remotely strike me as having been written by someone upset by the events, but rather someone looking to take advantage of the situation, trying to confuse CS reps with lots of legal sounding jargon, threats of local / national press and of course, quoting the names of a few acts of parliament along the way to make it look better.
|
It is infact true you can do this, I made £550 pounds after taking british gas to small claims court because of an error they repeatedly failed to resolve, the £550 was for letters sent at £50 a time over a period of 14 months as well as getting £600 compensation ohh and they had to pay £50 court costs!
EDIT: I have now been with swalec for over four years and never had a problem!

Not at all my friend. & Ill leave it at that. If any payment is rec'd I will give it to a charity of the forums choice so hows that Paul? Take the time to read the Acts & you will understand more. All conversations with CS reps didnt even get to that stage. All polite and amicable. As my letter states I dont hold any one person except at director level, responsible.

Re: my mother died last Oct. NTL are still writing to her despite being repeatedly told!!
I am sorry I have read it again and noticed that you stated that you did indeed include a copy of the death cert.
As for my other comments I do not see how death, however loved , cherished the person was is supposed to compensate a company for services delivered and un paid for. I do agree that in most cases these amounts are trivial and can be written off but at the end of the day some one has to pay for these.
I have debts totalling many 1000s from a mistake I made many years ago, rather than go bankrupt I decided that my decisions resulted in those debts and that I should be paying them rather than file for bankrupty and I will be doing so (failing a lottery win) for many years to come.
Unfortunatly It seems through having experienced very hard times I am now blessed with a rather hard sometimes un emotional view on things and I do apologise if my post offended.
I will study the probate act and the consumer credit act for the parts that they say that death clears all bills as I am sure as part of her law degree my partner has the relevent texts.
Again I find myself apologising because I do mean no harm or hurt...

Disagree m8, I think the purpose of the letter was as I mentioned in my previous post to highlight the incompetence of some of these companies shower of **** and tactless CS agents and policies.
As mentioned earlier little things like this in times of grief can make you do and write this sort of letter.
I am sure and even more sure after reading mitchpl last edit that this was not the case.
Your sympathetic approach to this matter is nearly as bad as the previous ex NTLs employees approach which gives them as a company a bad name.
And yes I before your Mod friends tell you I have reported your post as well.

In my brief 2 years at ntl I was :-
a) One of the faults techs given technical complaints to handle (including complaints raised through this forum) that where escalated to management.
b) Able to collect a substantial collection of emails from happy customers that I had helped and in cases driven to their houses in my own time and at my own expense fixed thier computers.
c) Maintained less than 100 pounds compensation for loss of service. (I am sorry missing 1 hour of tv in no way enables you to 1 month free tv)
<mod edit: Chris W> debate of moderating decision removed.

BTW, I don't need telling what has been reported, all the team can see all reported posts

Re: my mother died last Oct. NTL are still writing to her despite being repeatedly told!!
hear hear!
Not sure wot the last 2 "posts" were about as im a cherry here!
But, just to recap & set any records straight, my letter is certainly not designed for gain in any way whatsoever! I certainly dont need the money. Its the apology I would like & perhaps some assurance the problem wont rear its ugly head with another poor person. Letter purely designed to provoke response, comment & apology & to highlight their apparent ineptness. Again I dont hold any one of the telephone CS operators responsible. I know people like that have a difficult time & work under stressful conditions. It is a question of inadequate systems of work & proceedures & training which need addressing. Thanks to all for constructive remarks & pointers/offers of help..............................................

What for?
I am sure I disagree with Paul M on many things but on this occasion he is only making his view heard on a discussion forum.

Re: my mother died last Oct. NTL are still writing to her despite being repeatedly told!!
I say cool it people.
In my opinion, the letter posted by the OP makes some very valid remarks, but the cynicism that shows through did make me wonder wether the OP is interested in closure or something else. Putting it differently, it's not the letter I would have written.
Edit:
I now see the letter was:
Quote:

It has certainly done the first on this forum. I wonder how constructive it has been.

Ok admittedly maybe a tad harsh but without discussing the report bit, my point was that while I know Mods here are no way associated with NTL it does give off the wrong impression when this place is trying to forge links with them.
