I'm a bit confused (or maybe you are?) by your comment about Suse 'looking' better than Mandriva. Not sure if you're aware of it or not, but Linux itself is just an operating system, and the GUI side is handled by a desktop environment. I was under the impression that Suse uses KDE by default, like Madriva does. As they're both using the same desktop environment, they should both look pretty similar - one may be using a more recent version of KDE than the other, but I wouldn't have thought it was that different
