Well - I wasn't using 1.5B2 - I was using 1.0.7 so it's faster than that!

Re: Firefox 1.5 Release Candidate 1

Firefox 1.5 RC2 is just out. Apparently, the two release candidates (not the betas) are based on a new Gecko version, so may well be faster. They certainly seem that way.

Update was automatic (popup - click a button, click a button to restart and that's it) and only took seconds - of course, there probably wasn't much change.

I still think it's placebo effect, it prefetches pages anyway, and fasterfox is reporting no speed increases.

Psychologically, one thinks new browser, loading faster, when in practice there's little difference, and the speed of the internet connection, packet speed through the various routers, and available bandwidth are logically more likely to affect the speed of webpage loading than a slightly different version of FX.

IE vs FX, no contest. Fx 1.0.7 vs Fx 1.5 RC2, I'd say little, if any, in it.
