Re: Slow browsing South Manchester
sandinista someone like bill or ignition more suited to help you here, but have a look at your diagnostic screen for your modem and check to see if the power levels and stuff are ok, I would try and rule that out first.

Thanks for the reply Chrysalis but I am on a STB (PACE) not modem, could this be the problem ? When I was upgraded to 1mb I was told I needed a new STB but it never arrived and as my BB worked ok for a time I never chased them up for a new one. My fault I know but I thought all was ok.

Then chase up the new STB, I know of issues with ntl's network but the speeds you have reported seem far lower then a general contention issue, I dont know the specific's of how bad the old STB's perform.

You should send NTL a letter stating the times of your phone calls and whom you spoke to. I would also include the invoice for the PC health check and request that your bill is credited to that amount once they have solved THEIR problem. That is ourageous.

Re: Slow browsing South Manchester
Having almost lost the will to live at the end of last week, I dredged what remaining reserves of strength I have left and called tech support today, call no5, have got an engineer coming out 2morrow.

Re: Slow browsing South Manchester
EUREEKA, engineer just called, he thought it was the STB so he put me a new samsung one in. That didn't do the trick so he eventually traced the fault to the ethernet/usb crossover adaptor. As he didn't have a spare one on the van we have connected via the ethernet directly, all is sweet now.
