Re: Channels keep freezing

Fair enough, but there is a good chance it has nothing to do with any work that NTL is carrying out (in fact, I could be wrong, but I don't think NTL is currently rolling VOD out to ANY ex-cwc areas).

Re: Channels keep freezing

I keep getting freezing channels. When I ring up they ask me to monitor it. I could get an engineer if it persists, but all they do is replace the stb and then the problem comes back. I think I'll wait and see if a software upgrade fixes it one day in the future. I know I get a lot more problems with TV than my friends with sky. I hope ntl catches on to this problems and sorts it.

Re: Channels keep freezing

As if any one on your street that has NTL DTV if they have the same fault. If they have it may be a network fault which would need investigating.

Just as a side note, if an STB swap didn't fix, if you get another service tech, let him know that the last swap didnt work, he may refer it to a network tech for investigation.

Re: Channels keep freezing

The question is though why should we put up with it? Its the good old 'well its NTL syndrome, you have to expect these problems'

I thought that for 3 weeks before getting angry with the bad service/freezing picture and am now seriously considering upgrading to Sky. NTL take £65 off me per month yet for years I have accepted theses faults as 'good old NTL' I think enough is enough, never in all the years I have had NTL Digital TV have I complained that the Red button crashes the system or that the TV browse is 'always unavailable'.

Ntl have no qualms about collecting my money by DD each month so why should we put up with this half hearted service provided

Re: Channels keep freezing

With regard to freezing pictures, if the STB swaps don't make a difference to it, there must be a fault with the cable to your house (repul required) or a local network fault (cab at the end of the road). I would personly ask for another service tech to come and assesss what the fault is. ( and refer it if nessesary). With regard to the other fault, you should find that the software updates that are going out now should fix them.

Re: Channels keep freezing

I had an engineer come out recently, the third one (first replaced connectors/isolator, second replaced the Pace with a Sammy) upon me telling him we'd had previous work done immediately passed it to senior tech for a cabinet check. I've yet to hear from them but im sure I will.

The main problems with freezing pictures (or pixilation) is SIGNAL LEVELS!!!!You'd be supprised how many picture faults are caused by bad signal levels or bad connections! If the 'F' connector is,nt tight or fitted properly, you will get signal in/egress which will cause you the problems you have. Also,if someone near you has a chipped (illigal) modem/cable box, that will put interfearance onto the network which will also bugger it up!

Re: Channels keep freezing

Mansfield and surrounding areas had freezing and blanking pictures, which was a transmission fault. Should be ok now.
