How long ago was that? Netflix has loads of originals on it! Nothing like UKTV.
There are ALSO programmes that have been aired before, of course, but that means they are able to suit all tastes.

First time was a couple of years back which dragged into a 6month trial. And again about 18months ago.
I was just left thinking it was fine for an extra £ or so a month but at £7 or whatever it was, no thanks.

I would agree they have some good stuff but equally they have plenty of dross also.
I can just about justify the current price but won't pay to much more.

What continually annoys me is when Netflix call something an Original when they had absolutely no part in production, they are simply the supplier of the show to a particular region. They could call it an Exclusive in that region, but Original is totally taking credit for work they didn't do.

Re: Cloud recording looks to be coming to VM.
We have recording that are years old and occasionally still watch them.
I agree though that if in cloud there will be one recording bookmarked to all users. Currently the TiVo can do something like that so My Recordings can include both actual recordings and bookmarks to catchup and Netflix.

The BBC also do that all the time. It's still new and exclusive and possibly commissioned by Netflix or Amazon etc. They're broadcasters, not programme makers.

The BBC also have a new name for a repeat - a reversion.

Many of them aren't commissioned by Netflix.

A programme maker might make a pilot, but they're not going to go ahead with a 23 episode series until somebody is prepared to pay for it. They might have been broadcast on a regular channel in the US, but it is Netflix paying for UK broadcasting.

Re: Cloud recording looks to be coming to VM.
I didn't say they don't pay I said many of the Netflix shows were originally commissioned by someone else.

True, but that doesn't take away from Netflix that they have a lot of good quality stuff on there.
To me, a Netflix Original is a programme on Netflix that hasn't been shown anywhere else before. I'm sure Netflix means it in that context. They don't claim to have made these programmes themselves, and the credits tell you who was responsible for making the programme.
When I see the words 'New Series', I don't automatically think the channel concerned made or commissioned the series - I just take it that the programme is the first of the series that has not been shown before in the UK.

Does it even matter, though?

Re: Cloud recording looks to be coming to VM.
At the moment no but when some of those broadcasters who originally commission content have more options open for distributing globally they are less likely to need Netflix.

Re: Cloud recording looks to be coming to VM.
Sorry for going off topic with the Netflix annoyance...
On-topic...
I was wondering whether maybe it would work by Virgin at one of their headends recording all their feeds 24/7. And then allowing users, if they select to record something, access to VM's recording. They are clearly not going to have a separate recording for every user, it isn't practical or cost effective. And using the catch-up versions isn't recording.
