Re: Virgin Media Trialists Needed
I have personally never had the chance to be a part of testing, any aspect of VM.
But seeing how somethings turn-out, it really makes me wonder if VM actually listen to the users who are testing the equipment before a mass roll-out.

Re: Virgin Media Trialists Needed
I am/was part of the Hub 3 trial, I put my name down for this new pool of trialists, I hope having already been on a recent trial doesn't hurt my chances of being on a future one, It's fun getting to play with new things before anyone else!
I'm only really interested in broadband technologies, faster download and definitely faster Upload speeds are welcomed, but I'd also like to see them roll out IPv6 sooner rather than later.
Someone on VM forum suggested a Docsis 3.1 Hub 4 towards the end of this year, I am sure they will be testing that soon seeing as the Hub 3 is Docsis 3.0, it seems to me like they shot themselves in the foot releasing the Hub 3 not too long after the 2ac when it's likely to be short lived and isn't 3.1, I assume the decision was from higher up in Liberty Global seeing as it's a shared device across all the divisions, it's a good idea to unify the networks and equipment from a buying power point of view anyway.

I'm pretty sure that the Hub 3 is Docsis 3.1 ready.

I'm pretty sure it isn't.

DOCSIS 3.0 is fine for a while. It can and does deliver a gigabit.
The SH3 will only be short lived if retentions start handing out a 3.1 device whenever people phone up because they fancy one. If a 3.1 hub is used as it should be, just for when people purchase likely super-expensive tiers that rely on DOCSIS 3.1 else they won't work, the 3 will be good for years yet.
I would imagine it to be more like the move from the old modems to the VMNG300, especially given the cost of the kit initially. As prices go down and there's less difference between the SH3 and a future model it'd take over in a similar manner to how the SH became the standard kit.
Just FYI: http://www.rogers.com/consumer/internet#packages // https://mediacomcable.com/site/1_gig...t_service.html
That's being delivered over 32 US DOCSIS 3 channels, equivalent to 24 EuroDOCSIS channels.

I'm vaguely remember reading something about 6 months ago saying it was compatible, but it may have been in the 'assumed' spec stage or I could have been reading something else entirely! Either way, that's disappointing!

Check the Arris TG2492 Tuner chipset out while you're patiently waiting another 12months?

Impatiently wait 24 months, to find the date slip back another 6 months. Might as well set my expectations.

You're probably thinking of the partnership LibGlobal and Broadcomm announced a while ago. 3.1 is still way off.
