Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media Extra
You have to remember that customers and Virgin have different definitions of coming soon.
Customers: Within the next 2 months
Virgin: Within the next 2 years

As far as I'm aware, VM have never given any indication of timescale for Opera Apps. What's your source, Den?

l am just stating the obvious fact that from Virgins actual comments on this which was a long time ago we do seem to have to wait a inordinately long time before actual plans come to fruition SP.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media Extra
With Sky and BT both due to launch new STB's in the summer, VM ought to have something up their sleeves or are gonna get left behind yet again. I know Sky's is supposed to be 4K ready and also have a cloud based storage for recordings so you can watch them anywhere (TV Anywhere you say!) via Sky Go.
Both Sky and BT also seem to be aggressively seeking new customers with half price deals, free sport, etc. Be interesting to see how VM react (if in fact they even do!).

I doubt Virgin have anything new up their sleeves other than trotting out the usual ` record 3 channels on tivo unlike skys box,not efected by the weather and `free repairs``. Hope I`m proven wrong though.

They do have a new tivo in the pipeline but no dates given as to when it'll arrive.

Sky's was originally due 2016 but BT have forced their hand by introducing BT Sport in 4K for next season. Sky are reactive to the competition whereas VM always seem to run to their own timescale regardless.
I'm hoping the new Sky STB is out by July as I'm planning on switching my TV over to Sky so it would be great to get the latest STB with cloud recordings.

What makes you think you need a new Sky box for the forthcoming cloud facility ?

The honest answer is I don't know whether you do or you don't, just in the articles I've read mention cloud recordings alongside the new STB.

I'd be very surprised if a new tivo appeared unless it was just one with a larger hard drive.
Liberty, in conjunction with Comcast, are working on the next generation stbs and software and I'd imagine tivo would be jettisoned as part of that project. Details of which I have posted on this forum before.

Not 100% certain but haven't Sky recently enabled their boxes so you can view photos from your mobile or tablet via your sky+hd box?

It is 100% happening the source is very very reliable. It could be that stb that you're on about though as no timeframe has been given yet.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media Extra
It's all very well being 4k ready, I'm sure people will buy into it more than 3d etc. But all the research I can find (I'm in the market for a new telly!) suggests that I won't actually see much difference when you take into account viewing distance, screen size etc. Has anyone here got any out of the showroom experience?
