Yup. I guess if they didn't do this then they couldn't survive, they wouldn't get any attention. They would be too similar to Labour or the Conservatives who do have to be confined by realism as they'll actually have to govern. Although that doesn't always stop them they are more likely to provoke a reaction if they announced such a ill-thought out policy.

It does reinforce my suspicion of these fringe parties though and my view that choosing a party is more about compromise and pragmatism than hope and ideology. I think people expecting too much from politicians is partly the reason everyone claims to be so uninterested in the first place.

The more I read about the greens, the more they look to me as being a party full of Tony Benn wannabies. Big on the lofty ideals, but rubbish at actually putting them in practice.
