Interesting times ahead mate Liberty Global who own VM are no small fish either.
With Netflix already on the VM platform and Lovefilm set to appear on VM in 2014 things are already looking better for VM customers.
With the exception of Sky Atlantic every other Sky channels content is available on VM both linear and OD so I'm not quite sure what your meaning , any competing platform are free to setup and launch there own channels BT certainly did.

They have literally no incentive to do that, and won't.

Besides, its more likely they will just convert ESPN/HD to BT Sport 3/HD when the licenses run out and go to a three channel rotation - they don't have enough content for 4 channels yet (neither do Sky, really, but they do anyway).

I think BT Sport 3 will come if they continue to get sports rights the way they are atm.
They're going for Brazlian football now apparantly.

I would tend to go with what the owner releases rather than somebody in CS says - who also is not too good at spelling. I would have through that Sky pulling out of the channel would be knowledge to staff by now.

How often do CS staff give the wrong info?

Perhaps the staff will not be told until 16th Jan - we know that sort of thing happens.
This is what i was thinking tbh especially with them saying they're looking into a streaming service too. We'll find out for sure on 16th i take emails from cs of companies with a pinch of salt these days lol.

I think VM shot themselves in the foot by selling Living etc, but then again i believe this got us the SkyOD services too as part of the deal?
I'm not going to discuss Sky anymore as this is a Virgin media thread and we'll end up of topic lol. The best thing to say is only time will tell what comes to VM and what doesn't.
This year i think from the info i have we'll see.
History HD
Nat Geo wildHD
DisneyHD
Now tv app to appear on tivo(take this with a pinch of salt)
Disney XDHD
SkynewsHD
SkysportsnewsHD
CIHD
Movies4men
Sony Movies

Also i think LG will tie up a lot more on demand services and content too.

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV 2014

Sky will need to inform customers very soon if MGM HD is closing as customers can pay for it as a separate charge. With chargeable services closing they normally give 30 days notice.

When they pulled Disney cinematic did they provide 30 days?, I seem to remember that subscribers did get a discount on sky movies not sure if that was related to short timescales of closure, also the French film channel we use to have (name escapes me) did that get 30 days?

Just thinking of any historical subscription channels that closed and what the rule of thumb here

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV 2014

ESPN gave lots of notice - I don't think Cinemoi gave much notice.

There isn't really much of an issue of Sky just not charging after the 16th Jan - as its an add-on. Only a problem if they still take the sub - or do not refund.

Disney cinemagic were given nearly 60 days notice. Sky first announced it closure on 31st January 2013. The channel closed on 28th March 2013.
http://www.sky.com/mysky/latestnews/...lose-in-march/

I can't remember Cinemoi.

It's generally a policy within the TV Platforms to give 30 Days notice for the closure of premium services as some people may only be subscribed to Sky to watch MGM HD, so by giving 30 days it enables them to give their 30 days.

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV 2014

It may be letters were sent to those who have MGMHD as an add-on - but I would have thought they would have alerted the world to that fact.

There isn't anybody at Sky until next week to explain what is happening.

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV 2014

If the Now TV app comes to TiVo, this will resolve the problem of some VM customers wanting SA that have been denied it up until now and VM won't have to pay what Sky are asking for it.

It's owned by Sky but my source tells me Sky want the NowTV app on as many platforms as possible including TiVo.
I think this year we'll see more in the way of on demand apps on Tivo.
