Re: Well done Virgin Media
Was with BT for years there BB was appalling struggled to get 1mpbs at times when I cancelled there cancellation team didn't even try to keep me now there playing catch up with fibre which is still more expensive that VM's fibre for the fastest speeds
Unlimited BT Infinity 2 (up-to 76Mbps) with phone line £41.45
Virgin Media Up to 100Mb broadband (120Mb in some areas) with phone line £41.99

Me too, been with Telewest/Virgin for approx 17 years or more and have had a brilliant service, only had them out on a few occasions and it was nothing major either, a big from me!

Yeah hopefully Virgin will be able to increase the upload speeds over time they'll have to really other wise they'll be lagging behind especially when more of the UK is connected to BT Fibre which VM also cover

Re: Well done Virgin Media
Virgin are the ONLY company I've been with who've taken retentions seriously as far as I'm concerned. I know there will be Sky customers who feel they've been looked after but when I called them out of contract they basically told me I was free to leave. So I did! And I will never, ever, be a Bt customer again. I'm actually hoping Bt Sport doesn't arrive in xl because a. I really don't think it's that great a product and 2. I really don't want them having my money, even indirectly.

I will only go back to BT if every other telcom provider goes tits up..and then I'd think long and hard about it.

I'd probably do without a landline in that scenario.

Re: Well done Virgin Media
Apparently BT are now running there Fibre at speeds of up-to 160Mb in selected areas I wonder what VM's response to this will be in the months to come

Re: Well done Virgin Media
If you think BT is bad, you don't remember Post Office Telephones. In the early 70s it took them two years to provide us with a line, which was shared with the house across the road (so sometimes you'd pick up the handset and hear them talking). IIRC installation cost £145 - that's £1300 in today's money.

BT cut me off without even a phone call and would be back on until l paid the money plus a desposit on the next bill. Horrible company to deal with.
With VM, l had the same problem - and VM, could not have been nicer, they arranged for me to clear my bill over a couple of months, and also gave me half price on everything until l found a job - thats how good they are.
Phone service 10/10 Tv and BB 5/10

That's great, Arthur. Can't see why you have been so critical about VM over the years. No company is perfect, but you know, Virgin ain't that bad!

Their entire service is a shambles, their phone constantly cuts off, you cant stream sites like youtube without buffering you get speeds of 1Mbps on a 100Mbps service and its somehow acceptable according to them, their mobile service is the absolute worse ever, Virgin Media are even worse than EE.
They may have provided good customer service but it means nothing when you'll likely (more than likely) experience problems with their service down the line, and they are big time liars too just like EE.
Oh well, im glad you and your friend are chuffed with the service so far!
|
Yours is not a common experience, Zee; maybe there were technical issues in your area. I've been on the cable system since the late 1990s and I've never had the kind of problems you have highlighted.

Oh, Andy, no-one should cut of their noses to spite their faces!
If BT Sports is showing the football matches that you want to see, you shouldn't avoid subscribing to BT Sports because you don't like BT!!
I'm not a BT lover by any means (I'm glad to be shot of them), but this is just a TV channel!

Re: Well done Virgin Media
To be fair, if there's a match that I really really want to see, then I'll have a ticket!

I remember the party lines well we shared one with our neighbour in 1973, it took a while for them to provide us with our own line ,but not quiet 2 years.

It was 2 years to get a party line. Another 5 to 7 years to get our own.

That's FTTP though not the more widely available FTTC.
