They are pets, actually to some families they are much more that why its a big deal, china is full of sick *******s, the way your going on if its a animal and you want to eat it then you should kill it and eat it, so if I fancy a white lion I can kill it and eat and if I get in trouble I can just say well other animals get killed to eat so whats the big deal.

Animal cruelty in the UK is just as bad, On Monday, l saw a Labrador with THREE bricks tied round its neck, that had been thrown in a local canal. To make sure it was dead.
Cruelty is everywhere to animals, when l saw that sad dog, l went and gave our Yorkei a big cuddle.

The bloke would have followed him if I had saw that after I had hit him with a few house bricks.

In the UK we breed horses for racing/show jumping/work etc, on the continent they are also breed for their meat.
In the UK we breed guinea pigs for pets, in peru they are a staple food, a source of protein.
In the UK we have domesticated the dog, in China they are bred for food, a source of protien.
Just because we domesticate an animal, be it dog, horse, guinea pig and a plethora of other animals doesn't make what we do right when compared to countries that have domesticated animals to be pets or for the dinner plate.
It's very short sighted of you to think that you should be able to impose your will and your ideals onto cultures that have been using the said animals as a food source for thousands of years.
Isn't it about time that we concentrated on our own culture and its failings before worrying about other cultures and what we deem to be their failings!
