Re: Politicians should consider banning high sugar children’s foods

Most people seem to agree it's a bad idea here.
I was expecting I'd have to defend my position when I read all the comments on the Guardian about not being able to rely on the bad parents to do their job.
They are lining up other there to let the government decide their diet plan.

If we were all equal. we were all as rich as each other. nobody would even think about telling anyone else what they can and can't do. or what they can and can't eat.

strange but true

I was watching something about this in the news the other day about a certain percentage of people don't know how much sugar and salt and all the other things that keep people in jobs is in their food.

the guy said could it be that nobody just don't care?
he said they do care.

if they cared then they'd know how much content was in the food that they cared enough about to still buy and eat it.

and that is part of the problem ,people are so used to governments interfering and legislating everything they have forgotten how to think for themselves and governments do it because it is easy .Instead of working on ways to change how people think they simply make laws to try to force people into certain behavior

People buy what they can afford and companies manufacture what people want at a price that is affordable. In an ideal world we would be eating all natural food with no additives but few can afford to eat that

The problem that cereals that are good for us taste like cardboard.Eating muesli is like eating the contents of the budgie's cage.Bleugh!

Far better to eat fresh fruit and veg and get your fibre that way.

What cereal these days doesn't have an excess of something bad? Be it sugar, or salt.

I myself eat shredded wheat and Kellogs fruit and fibre (to give it a bit more taste heh)

That probably has bad stuff in it too.

Our Westeern palates are so overloaded with sugar they've become desensitised to it. That's why cereals that aren't stuffed full of sugar, sugar and more sugar just taste to us like cardboard.

It is possible to re-educate your tongue, with a little persistence. These days I'm amazed at how sugary plain old shreddies with skimmed milk tastes.

Actually Shredded wheat is the one product that does not have sugar or salt in it.With fresh fruit and/or yoghurt it's a very healthy choice.

Maybe they feel that when the entire population is used to being told what to eat, drink, wear and think they'll have jobs for lives and all the perks that accompany them. I might be wrong of course...
