Although I don't think it is actually defined anywhere, I believe that you are only supposed to keep any recordings "for the purposes of time-shifting" for one week.

If we want a reminder - we have to SET it to record - as we want to watch there and then ,we watch live and cancel the recording .Ergo cancel recording before "watching" the recording
