I am well aware of that I have recorded films from sky anytime using the method above with no issues. Maybe I should have been more precise ,but the OP seemed to understand.

From what I can work out most content providers are mainly worried about the copying of HD content and as scart can only carry sd then that could be the reason why recording is not a problem.
